• Hi, I'm Lisa-mommy to my boys, David, 7 and Matty, 6 and wife to Steve. In between school and work we spend our time playing outdoors on the central coast of CA, eating chocolate chip pancakes, tapping tunes on the piano (David) and choreographing elaborate lightsaber duels (Matty). I create handmade jewelry and love taking pictures. Stick around and get to know us!

estuary.

es·tu·ar·y (sch-r)
n. pl. es·tu·ar·ies
1. An arm of the sea that extends inland to meet the mouth of a river.

Our neighborhood borders an estuary, where the fresh water from land meets the salt water from the sea. I took this picture last night as we were driving home from dinner (Lolo’s, but more on that later!). Funny thing, when we bought this house we didn’t realize it! It is simply beautiful. The tide ebbs and flows. At low tide there are twisty streams and at high tide the water comes all the way to the road. Low tide at sunset is breathtaking.

It is beautiful! I want to get into a little canoe and paddle around.

That’s beautiful Lisa! You always find the most ordinary things to take pictures of and make them extraordinary.

Did you guys ever put your feet in estuary? If so, how did the water feel? I would be curious, too.

the land is marshy and not really accessible–so we haven’t put our feet in. i did see a kayak the other day. that looked like fun, but it’s probably risky as the tide is unperdictable. I wouldn’t want to get stuck! I’ll just enjoy the view from my car :)

I’m jealous! But hey, I’m a block from Atascadero Lake?

I’ve just come across your blog through the cfhusband blog. You have such a beautiful family! I also think your jewelry is spectacular. I’m brainstorming for Christmas already :) Have a great day!

While I don’t think dynamite could pry me from our farm with our beautiful fields and the spectacular mountain views…this estuary picture and post almost makes me wish we could live near the ocean…or maybe have a summer cottage near the ocean. BEAUTIFUL!!! Thank you for sharing!
