easy gift tags.
for gift wrap i consistently use kraft paper boxes or craft bags.
i love the simplicity and the vintage look.
i picked up an old children’s book at an antique store for about $10. it was full of the sweetest drawings. i just ripped out some cute pics (i know, all the librarians are shuddering right now) and used double-sided tape to attach them to the manilla tags (available at staples, about $5 for 50). then i used my alphabet stamps and brown ink to add a word.
it took me all of about 5 minutes, but aren’t they cute?!

I like to use modern looking wrapping paper and use brown stings or raffia (sp?)
I had tons of fun last Christmas making my own gift tags. No one had any idea they were home made! I just used vellum paper and stamps and some irridescent stamp pads. I definitely am going to do it again this year. That is a craft project even I can handle!

Great idea. My favorite way to wrap gifts (it’s not very eco-friendly, so I may have to rethink gift wrapping when I return to the US), is with printed cello wrap with a metallic no-peek layer underneath and a fabric bow. There are some really cute patterns at papermart (link below) and I probably have about 15different rolls stashed away.

I use Trader Joe’s grocery bags, inside out of course, and stamp, paint, or write on it before wrapping whatever gift needs wrapping

Hmmm… My favorite… Right now I don’t have any… But I used to use newspaper and string to an unfinished look and red tags that looked like a travel case…
I can’t stand those store bought bows in a bag. YUK YUK Ribbon only. All kinds. One year I made my own paper from a brown roll of mailing paper. I stamped it with christmas shaped sponges. Then used raffia as the bow. That was neat. But again, never never store bought bags of bows. No no no! (Love the tag idea!)

What a brilliant idea! I, too, am so drawn to the vintage children illustrations … I try to capture their innocence in my own illustrations … thank you so much for sharing this wonderfully quick way to add something special to a gift.
This is such a great idea, I just love the look, and so easy, yet thoughtful.
I use a lot of paperbags from my store & add a (hat)pin in a cute color or design to close. Love your idea, I buy old childrens books all the time and get my husband to scan the pics in so I can reuse them.
I don’t always get as creative as I used to when it comes to gifts. My favorite is to create a gift basket/box so the gift itself gets to be a part of the creative part. A favorite is a wedding gift: nice basket, tablecloth, spaghetti, sauce (in a nice jar), two inexpensive glasses, etc. Its like a date kit for the newlyweds!
By the way, thanks for sharing about your son David. We’ve been dealing with my second son’s developmental delays since early this year. We’re still searching for answers as to why he’s having delays. While our experiences pale in comparison its nice to hear other families’ stories and remember that we’re not alone.
i gift wrap with newspapers! there are so many options: colorful comics, interesting graphics, and for a more dressy look, i like plain black and white newsprint paired with a bright ribbon or bow.
