• Hi, I'm Lisa-mommy to my boys, David, 7 and Matty, 6 and wife to Steve. In between school and work we spend our time playing outdoors on the central coast of CA, eating chocolate chip pancakes, tapping tunes on the piano (David) and choreographing elaborate lightsaber duels (Matty). I create handmade jewelry and love taking pictures. Stick around and get to know us!

the healing of the heart.

full-heart.jpg
when you were born my heart ached. we had so many questions and concerns.

after a couple months, you started to smile and my heart leaped. i hadn’t expected to fall so in love with you!

the first time you giggled, my heart sung. your belly laugh is music to my ears!

your daily determination makes my heart swell. you are such a brave little boy.

watching how others respond to you makes my heart melt. you show the world that life is a beautiful thing.

david, my heart is full.

Having a special needs daughter of my own, this sure hit home! It’s definitely amazing to see how God uses these sweet little kids who don’t fit into any of the “normal” molds that society thinks they should fit in. Instead they’ve been created for something greater. To touch people in ways we never even knew was possible. Congrats on your sweet little blessing!

  26. Rachel on January 29th, 2009 4:48 am

Your beautiful words touched me. I feel this way about my son Jacob. Many say how they “admire” me for taking care of him. None of them can comprehend how he fills my heart with utter JOY on a daily basis and it is an honor and blessing to be his mother.

  27. Robbin on January 29th, 2009 5:25 am

God knew what He was doing when He brought David to you and Steve. He knew how much love you and he were going to have for him. He knew how much you would care for him and nurture him and just enjoy him. Beautiful words, Lisa.

    Hi Lisa!

That was a beautiful post. I’ve left a couple comments on your jewelry blog, but haven’t heard back from you. Anyway, my husband ordered me a bracelet from you and recently the little pearl fell off. Is there anything you can do? I LOVE it and it’s just not as cute without the pearl. Thanks so much!

    Danielle

Ditto, I’ve been there :-) Enjoy your time with David.

  50. Ellen on January 31st, 2009 10:23 pm

    Oh, that’s simply beautiful.
I can relate so much to what you said. I did a post once mentioning all the stuff I wish I’d known when Max was born. And the one thing that was hardest for me was just appreciating him and how wonderful he is and not worrying myself sick about his future. I spent too much time stressing, not enough time enjoying him. I still worry but like you, I am in awe of my child. Amazed by him. Proud of him.
You’re a wonderful mom and blogger, I always feel great after coming here. Thanks, Lisa.
