• Hi, I'm Lisa-mommy to my boys, David, 8 and Matty, 6 and wife to Steve. In between school and work we spend our time playing outdoors on the central coast of CA, eating chocolate chip pancakes, tapping tunes on the piano (David) and choreographing elaborate lightsaber duels (Matty). I create handmade jewelry and love taking pictures. Stick around and get to know us!

new. New. NEW!!! (and giveaway)

laundry-linelaundry-line-2laundry-line-1

an idea i’ve had simmering for quite some time has finally made its way into reality and i have been so SO excited to share it with you.  hand-drawn images of laundry hung from a clothesline are hand-stamped onto sterling (1/2″) dics.  so sweet. so whimsical. so simple.  and we are giving two laundry line necklaces away.  leave a comment and tell us what kind of laundry detergent you use.  and of course, you can see more details about the new necklace HERE.

just because they grow wild…

stretched canvas prints

canvas

i’ve been wanting to do this for so long, and i finally ordered prints on stretched canvas.  i hung them on the wall above the dresser in our bedroom.  we used finerworks.com (which i googled and found to tbe the most affordable).  i am so happy with the results.  each print reminds me of a special moment and captures a memory.  of course there are about 20 more photos i want to have printed on stretched canvas, but i may need a bigger house…

slide down, slip and slide and then line up again.  oh, and finish with a popsicle.

haircuts, ugh.

haircuts

one of my least favorite activities is getting the boys’ haircuts.  mostly because david squirms, arches and cries the whole time.  and i am holding him on my lap while i get covered with hair.  (which is why there are no photos of david!)  but i love the results.  so now i’ve got two freshcut kiddos and a whole month (or maybe two if i put it off long enough) until the next haircut.

make your own pie.

make-your-own-pie1make-your-own-piemake-your-own-pie-2

we built our own pies tonight with some friends.  matty said he had been dreaming of this dessert.  i got tiny pie crusts and made vanilla pudding then the topping choices were fresh strawberries, bananas, chocolate chips, gummy bears, brownies and sprinkles.  the kids were giddy with delight and yes, the adults made pies too.  yum!

note to self.

soak up each day.  slow down and be present in the moment.  make realistic to do lists (it doesn’t all have to get done today!). notice the little things.  appreciate beauty.  ignore the mess.  laugh at yourself.  linger over coffee.  enjoy today. today is all we have.

happy father’s day.

fathersday

i’m pretty sure…

anthro1anthro2

i could live at anthropologie.  plenty of amazing clothes to chose from, darling dishes, cozy beds, and a dressing room that could totally double as a family room.  i love the flooring, the light–it’s the most inspiring place!

summer senses

soaking it in!  how about you?

silliness.

silliness

this photo was from our beach outing last weekend.  david was cracking up and matty was acting like a superhero.  steve and i are just looking at each other and smiling.  we were all feeling lazy but i dragged everybody to the beach and we ended up having a great time.  i love the silliness this photo captured!!

let summer begin!

teacup-in-the-sunlight

today is our first official day of no school!  the thing i am looking forward to most is slow mornings.  other wonderful summer treats–sprinkler play, time my sis, a few family getaways, coffee with friends, warm evenings, strawberries, barbeques, sundresses.  what else??

how to play at the beach…

1. run toward the water

2. run away from the water

3. catch your breath and then start over!!

looking closer.

tattered-edges

i love the edges on these flowers.  soft, feminine and perfectly imperfect.  i love how the color bleeds out from the center.  warm, vibrant, and laid back.  and i love how the blossoms are bunched together like close friends.  a group of close friends having a sweet time.

a bucket of water and a sunny afternoon.

bucketplay2bucketplay1

they played for hours outside and got completely drenched.  david used to hate (oops, we are careful how we use that word…strongly dislike) getting wet, but lately he is totally into it.  playing in the sprinklers and splashing in puddles are favorite activites.  well, second to playing the keyboard.  we’ve got some clothes drip drying in the bathroom and two sleepy boys conked out in bed.  and i think i’m gonna sleep good tonight too!!
