steve and i were in birmingham for a few days last week on jewelry business (more on that soon!).  we loved exploring a new city.  we had two layovers on the way there and two layovers on the way home–so we are sick of flying!  i am all for direct flights…but we live in a small town, so that can be tricky.  the boys’ stayed with their amazing auntie ellen and with our friend jessie and had a blast.  we ate some delicious food at ocean restaurant (hi olan and lena!) and saw an amazing sunset from the top of the vulcan.  we visited artist jennifer harwell and met visited some of the most creative/darling boutiques EVER! more pics tomorrow and something really fun on wednesday (it’s my birthday)–so check back!!

all of your comments about fall are making me so excited!  pumpkins, carmel apples, cool evening, piles of leaves–yum!  we are so enjoying summer, but we are getting ready for the new school year with backpacks, lunch bags and a new jeans.  matthias is starting kindergarten and david will be in 2nd grade–crazy!  what will i do with my mornings??  in the meantime, we’ll be soaking up the last couple weeks of summer.  maybe one more campfire?  what do you need to squeeze in before summer ends and the schoolyear (with a more structured routine) starts?

i met up with marijke (mar.I.ka) and tim the other evening to snap a few pictures.  they recently got engaged and they’re in the process of planning their amazingly creative and budget friendly wedding.  hmmm, maybe a post for another day?  but anyway, they are darling!  i know marijke through a mutual friend at my old church and besides the fact that we are now friends, she also helps with customer service for lisa leonard designs.  i am so thrilled for marijke and tim-they are a great match.  and check back next week because the inspiration for this photo shoot is a new necklace that we’ll introduce on monday.  and i am so so excited about it!!  happy friday!
