• Hi, I'm Lisa-mommy to my boys, David, 8 and Matty, 6 and wife to Steve. In between school and work we spend our time playing outdoors on the central coast of CA, eating chocolate chip pancakes, tapping tunes on the piano (David) and choreographing elaborate lightsaber duels (Matty). I create handmade jewelry and love taking pictures. Stick around and get to know us!

preparing.

prep1prep2prep3prep4*

we’ve been having some deliciously rainy days this week.  the rain makes it feel so much more like winter.  at night it gets so cold that by morning the rooftops and grass are covered with ice.

so we’re lighting candles, sipping cocoa, wrapping gifts and of course, making lots of jewelry.  we decorated cookies with friends this week–which basically consisted of piling on as much frosting and candy as possible. i’m really excited about the gifts we got for the boys this year.  for their big gifts, david is getting this and matthias is getting this.  they’re gonna love it.  the month goes by so quickly, i’m trying to soak it up!

what’s your favorite part of the christmas preparations?

When I was a little girl, my favorite part of the Christmas prep was always covering my very patient dog in the garlands. Poor thing … These days I love love love preparing some Danish Christmas dishes for my family and friends, like the newly popular æbleskiver! YUMMMMMM!

The baking, by far it’s the baking! I stop looking at the scale throughout the month, because whatever it ends up being in January is always worth it :)

Your picture of the tree w/ the ceramic looking ornaments is gorgeous (they all are,.. ) but that tree has me so awestruck! Can you imagine how heavy it must be?? It’s so pretty though.

those giant ornaments are amazing!!!! I’ve never seen anything like them.

Matthias will LOVE his gift! My son got that one for Christmas about 3 years ago, then the next Christmas we got him the pirate ship. He plays w/them ALL. THE. TIME!!! His 9yr old sister also plays w/them too. They like to have battles against each other. They’re great!

My favorite part is preparing homemade goodies and delivering them to friends with my oldest son. Chocolate pretzels, chex mix & fudge. Cheers.

Every year we take the kids to a living nativity that is put on by a local church. There is a hayride through it. The whole ride is only about 20 minutes but the entire experience of parking, waiting in line, walking back to the car, running into almost everyone we know takes almost two hours. But I love every minute of it. I know we are making memories for our family that all will be nostalgic about in the years to come.

They are going to adore those gifts!! I agree that those ornaments are amazing, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like them. My favorite part of christmas prep is probably the advent calender we do - every day we have a small reminder of why we celebrate Christmas and enjoy a special treat or activity too..

    Gorgeous pictures, as usual!

I love singing Christmas carols with my husband. It makes me feel that warm, cheery, Christmasy feeling.

Awesome! Santa brought my kids a kitchen last year, this year they are getting a train table! My favorite part? Shopping for them, its just so much fun! They get one big gift, and some smaller ones (books, cars, dolls), and knowing how excited they will be come Christmas morning gives me the warm fuzzies all over. :)
    Have a great weekend!

This line of toys came out when my oldest son was small (he is now 18) and we bought the castle, pirate ship, western town, and robin hood village over several christmas/birthdays for him and his younger brother. They were by far their most favourite toys and help up really well. As a matter of fact, I kept the castle and pirate ship set (along with their lego and duplo and a few other things) because I know that one day my grandchildren will love to play with them too!

I dont think I’ve ever read the sentence “the rain makes it feel so much more like winter” before. I never thought rain could do that. ;P Here, - the rain destroys the beautiful snow and make it all sloppy and muddy. But luckily, we’ve been getting new snow lately and that really makes it feel like winter and christmas. :)

All the best for your christmas, from Norway.
