• Hi, I'm Lisa-mommy to my boys, David, 8 and Matty, 6 and wife to Steve. In between school and work we spend our time playing outdoors on the central coast of CA, eating chocolate chip pancakes, tapping tunes on the piano (David) and choreographing elaborate lightsaber duels (Matty). I create handmade jewelry and love taking pictures. Stick around and get to know us!

did you learn the colors of the spectrum with the acronym roy g. biv?  i’m so into color this season.  i find myself particularly drawn to yellow.  blue is probably the color i’m least fond of–although it’s often found in my favorite parts of nature.  and, it’s matthias’ absolute favorite color.  what’s your favorite color right now??

really fun post. love all the pics and remember where you took some of them :).
My favorite color right now is peacock blue. Ever since we saw that peacock at the zoo, I’m obsessed. I hung up the peacock blue lantern (that I bought in Santa Barbara) over the mantle, and it looks so beautiful.

    Lisa,

You have a wonderful, sweet and inspirational blog. I check in everyday to see what’s going on in your world and love every one of your photos… and your work. Thank you!

Merry Christmas to you, your husband and the boys.

Oh, I love red, orange and yellow!

    With Sincere Blessings to You,

Almost always purple… and sometimes yellow.
    That pear is super cute!

I’m in England and we learned the colour spectrum with the phrase - Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain!!!! - my favourite colour is magenta pink, having two young daughters!!

  7. Kathy on December 22nd, 2009 12:06 pm

I’m seeing yellow everywhere, and I’m really loving it! I am a huge fan of dark, rich purples paired with spring greens. But I love all colors and can’t get enough of their cheeriness!

Right now I am finding that I am drawn to different shades of green… maybe because I am dreaming of warmer days ahead and the green that is covered in white around here…

  9. Laura on December 22nd, 2009 12:34 pm

For a long time, I love Aqua Blue because it reminds me of water. I’m H20 lover! As I got older, I am more focusing on fern green because I love the color and nature plants.

  10. Kelly on December 22nd, 2009 12:37 pm

I am loving yellow, grey and shades of purple right now!

  11. Paige on December 22nd, 2009 12:38 pm

Right now, with Christmas knocking on our door, my color is RED. Big RED Christmas balls on the tree, berries, candles…

    Love your post

In the UK we learn ‘Richard of York Gave Battle in Vain’ which is rather ridiculous now I come to type it out. It doesn’t really trip off the tongue does it?

And I am declaring 2010 the year of orange - it is impossible to feel sad surrounded by it.

  14. Laurissa on December 22nd, 2009 1:09 pm

My favorite colour right now is teal blue. I can’t get enough of it. Black, white, and teal. Thank you for your charming blog!

My mom taught me that one long ago! :) And now I teach it to my boys. Love your photos. My favorite color the last 25 years or so has been green. :)

  16. Christina on December 22nd, 2009 1:13 pm

Blue! Sorry to be so incongruent! :) Only because it matches my eyes so nicely (when I wear it anyway).

And I LOVE your color pics. Here in ol’ KS, our colors are grey, brown, and white right about now. :) Thanks for the peek into a colorful winter!

  17. gina on December 22nd, 2009 1:28 pm

I LOVE orange- I just bought an watch with an orange leather band - so fun !!!

  18. melissa on December 22nd, 2009 1:29 pm

Thats a hard choice. Definitely either aqua or turquoise.

  19. chatty cricket on December 22nd, 2009 1:48 pm

Always blue. I love blue. Any shade.

Though really, I love all colors. I have the most trouble with red, but I still really like it, especially this time of year. Or paired with a lovely blue, for example. ;)

  20. Sarah Jane on December 22nd, 2009 2:18 pm

I’m a green girl. Love the colors. I had piano song that I had to play about Roy G Biv. Funny.

  21. Cari Locken on December 22nd, 2009 2:26 pm

Blue! And turquoise! Love those colors because they’re so calming to me.

  22. Jenn on December 22nd, 2009 2:35 pm

Robin’s egg blue to Turqoise… that spectrum of blues, + dark red.

  23. Donna on December 22nd, 2009 2:55 pm

At this time of year, the color in my home is white for a snowmen everywhere, all over my tree, sitting on the shelves, behind the glass in my china closet…everywhere. White lights, white snow, white everything….it is so pure and bright and peaceful.

Wishing you a pure, bright and peaceful holiday.

  24. Kimberly on December 22nd, 2009 2:59 pm

Yellow has been my favorite ever since my pre-teen years. It doesn’t look good on me, but I love to see it everywhere and what it means to me: warmth, sun, brightness, light, beginnings, and happiness. When you look at something yellow, you can’t help but smile and I love to see people with a glow about them. :)

  25. Jenny on December 22nd, 2009 3:08 pm

I’m not too picky right now. I love my youngest in navy blue, I love deep oranges and reds, each is beautiful in it’s own way!

  26. Kristin on December 22nd, 2009 4:05 pm

Orange…definitely orange. My baby’s room is painted orange, maybe that is why. Or maybe it is because it makes me smile everytime I see it…who knows! :)

  27. Jenifer T. on December 22nd, 2009 4:27 pm

I love that acronym. Blue of any shade is my favorite color although I do like to decorate with sage green and earthtones with a muted purple in there. Merry Christmas!!

  28. Peggy on December 22nd, 2009 6:05 pm

I always want to jump in and say my fave color is blue, but I think right now, I’m leaning toward green. Like a celery green.

  29. Ann on December 22nd, 2009 6:20 pm

I’m can’t say it’s my favorite color, but I’m really into orange right now. Our Christmas decorations this year all seem to have little splashes of orange, right down to the tangerines dotting the fresh greens on the mantle. It seems very fresh.

  31. Denise C. on December 22nd, 2009 7:46 pm

Lately I am very into blue (slate blue, blue-gray), the color is giving my home more of a modern feel.

I *LOVE* the bowls under green! Are they yours? They are absolutely adorable! :)

  32. Lisa on December 22nd, 2009 9:18 pm

I did learn Roy G. Biv. “O” is my favorite… the brighter and funkier the better!

  33. Laura on December 22nd, 2009 9:30 pm

aqua, aqua, aqua - can’t get enough of aqua!
where are those bowls from? i’m seeing them everywhere, but don’t know where to find them. might be a christmas present to myself!

  34. Karne on December 22nd, 2009 9:56 pm

red-I love the red and whites for Christmas. I also have a thing for chocolate brown.

  37. rani on December 28th, 2009 4:04 pm

I love that acronym! Have used it since a kid! Now my daughters remember it that way, and she taught me a cool song they learned at Monarch! My fave color is green! Nature and all that! Beautiful pics as always!
