finding light

we’ve had some seeerious rain the last couple days.

but also nice breaks, with lots of blue skies and sunlight.

i wandered outside to shoot some pics between downpours.

i love how everything looks and smells fresh after the rain.

then i set my computer on the kitchen table

so i could enjoy every ounce of sunlight.

finding {love} in the ordinary #3.

#2 was yesterday.  i forgot to number it, oops!

i took this pic with a flashlight set in the middle of a book.

the beam of light casts a glow in the shape of a heart.

and the book is a hymnal.  opened to my favorite hymn…come thou fount.

this guy sang it at our wedding.  i love that hymn.

and david.  sigh. he is still having a lot of discomfort.

lots of cramping and gas.  you probably don’t want to know all the details.

but he is tired and so am i.

i called the dr. again today to see what we should do.

praying that he’ll call back with a simple solution.

i hate to see him uncomfortable.  i want my happy guy.

rainy day, rainy week

we had a very rainy morning here in california today.

it’s supposed to thunder and lightening tonight

and continue to rain all week.

it’s a nice change of pace, i just think 5 days might be tiring.

but i know i can’t complain. we get a lot of nice weather here.

the rain stopped around 1pm and the sun broke through.

perfect timing because matthias and i had really important errands to run.

like getting ice cream at thriftys.

matthias wants to order and pay all by himself (sniff.)

he likes rainbow sherbert.  i like malted chocolate.

it’s really cute.

when the ice cream lady asked, will there be anything else?

matthias responded, ‘just a spoon, please’.

and matthias is bringing brownies to his class tomorrow to celebrate his bday.

i wanted to put some frosting and sprinkles on top

but he wouldn’t let me.  just. plain. brownies.

i’ve got some serious catching up to do today with emails, faxing, ordering, blah blah blah!

and the boys need haircuts.  bad.

plus all your comments yesterday make me want to get my hair done.

and get a pedicure and go out for dinner with my girlfriends

and eat cupcakes.

girlie treats are the best!!

Matthias turned six yesterday.  It seems impossible, but yes, it’s true.

We were out of town for a wedding this weekend

(which was beautiful, by the way!)

so the official (power ranger) party is next weekend.

but we made some time to celebrate as a family.

including chicken strips at Cheesecake Factory

picking out a toy from Target

an amazing new cape from grandma

and some cheesy strip mall rides.

hello tuesday. hello friends. {updated}

every single day, when i pick matthias up from school, he asks ‘did you get me a treat?’.  and almost always the answer is no, but every once in a while i bring something special.  and here’s a little treat for my sweet friends today-a dumdum just for you.  any flavor you’d like.  and their calorie free, because, um, it’s a photo.  can’t you imagine how yummy, though?

and today is a great day to shopping over at the pleated poppy.  i love her petal pushers.  so dang cute!  and matthias has a crayon roll that has saved us numerous church services/restaurants/waiting rooms.  she’s having an awesome sale, so enter code ‘blissdom’ for 15% anything!

and please, think and pray for david today.  we are visiting a GI doctor down south.  he has been having a lot of GI pain for last month or so and we are hopeful that we can find some answers.  when he’s not hurting he’s so happy, but after eating, reflux, throwing up, and difficult bedtimes have become almost the norm around here.  thank you for thinking of him today–i’ll keep you updated.

*** UPDATE***

Thank you, thank you for your prayers.

I can’t tell you how amazing it is to have friends far and wide that care about us.  The visit couldn’t have gone more smoothly.  We got straight in to see the doctor and right away he sent David over for x-rays.  The x-rays showed at least two partial obstructions in the large intestine.

The reason is because David isn’t able to completely clear his large intestine (get all the poop out) and so it builds up.  Even though he is already on a stool softener, we are ramping it up about 10x to get his bowels completely clear.  I just gave him the medicine–he has no idea what’s about to hit him!  Needless to say, we are staying home for a couple days.  Hopefully he will be MUCH more comfortable after we get through this.

the light was so beautiful this morning.  i pulled the car over on the way to church and snapped a few pics.  the ground was dewy and everything was glowing.  i could have taken a lot more pics, but i didn’t want to be later than we usually are!

horses are so amazing.  i haven’t ridden a horse in probably 20 years, but they are the most beautiful creatures-don’t you think?

we had a quiet sunday.  so nice.  time for baths and lunch-making and monday morning prep.

saturday around town

we’ve been out of town for the last few weeks, so it was wonderful to have a saturday at home.

after a veeery lazy morning, we went downtown and got CPK for lunch.

{do CPK’s exist outside of california??}

then we browsed around barnes and noble and saw the new chipmunks movie.

can i just say $8 for a child’s matinee??!  yowza!

i hope your saturday was restful and fun.

if i could get just one more saturday, i’d be sooo close to catching up!
