cuddling with matthias on my lap for a good hour. he’s sick, so he wants to be held.
teasing david and tickling him to the point where he belly laughed this morning.
giving steve a really good kiss upon returning home yesterday.
watching david’s whole face light up when he saw auntie chrissie-then wrap his arms around her neck.
a few hilarious moments at blissdom where we laughed so hard i had to spit out my drink.
a nap on the couch in a quiet house with the sun streaming in.

it is a blessing of the countless moments of love you’ve had.
mines today are singing happy birthday to my hubby over the phone today, prior to that finding the perfect bday card and gift. hospitable breakfast in the chaotic Denny’s dining room for free breakfast. being out in the rain (even though my feet and toes were wet and cold from it), slice of bday cake, looking out my window and seeing snow covered mountains and reading your lovely blog and viewing its lovely images and creations.

There is another book series called Still Meadow by a country author Gladys Taber. At first I thought you were referring to her books but this is another I will need to check out.
As a Grandmother I am really mindful of holding moments. I know too well the bittersweet passing of children being at home on a daily basis…I treasure each moment I get now with my Granddaughters…and I really thought I did before but life often got in the way when my children were younger.

Moments I am holding right now: taking my children to the park on Sunday, enjoying wintry weather in Southern California, going for my walk yesterday and meeting up with my daughter who was walking home from a school activity. We stopped and talked for some minutes–it’s wonderful to be friends with your teen daughter.
Ah, moments that have held me. I’ve been without my truck for a week, and have been housebound. We’ve had 34.5″ of snow dumped on us, and now an additional 25.5″ by the end of today.
My dear sweet husband who went and got us groceries yesterday since he refused to let me drive in this insane weather.
My moment is definitely appreciation. Appreciation for what I have, a warm house and a caring husband (whose car is still running.)
My moment…last night helping my 6 and 8 yr. old girls make homemade Valentines. That sweetness was special and this is such a great age….

Stopping, breathing, snuggling … my moment was when Ainsley leaned into me, stopping her constant motion long enough to just be close to her mommy. This moment I will hold in my hands all day

holding moments in my hand… lisa, i’m holding moments of grace in my hand. really. it’s been a tough three weeks both spiritually and physically. at times simple things have become impossible to do, but God says to me “give it grace.” and completely out of character for me, I DO! i hold grace in my hand.

And Gladys Taber is just the BEST! Her books about simple country living are truly the most inspring and magical there are! I discovered her work in 1992 and was sad to learn she had passed away in 1980. There is a wonderful group called “Friends of Gladys Taber” that publishes a quarterly newsletter and has a website as well. It was through one of their annual get togethers that I was able to visit and tour both inside and out, Stillmeadow and her cabin in Cape Cod! Her books have profoundly influenced the way I strive to live my life.
