it was a very happy halloween because david was released from the hospital!
but don’t worry we ate plenty of candy, too.
david dressed up as yoda and matty dressed up as annikin.

matthias joined his cousins for a fall festival at a grace church in long beach.
lots of bounce houses, candy, and games.

we are healing and resting so happy to be home!
how was your halloween?

my sister shot some pics of us walking with david through the ped ICU.
it’s been such a positive hospital experience.
the nurses and doctors are amazing-
david is bouncing back so nicely.
yesterday an x-ray showed his left lung had fluid and collapsed,
so they are doing some respiratory treatments to get that fixed
then we’ll be discharged! can’t wait!!
we’ll hang out near the hospital for a few days.

i feel like a big, dark cloud is behind us.
a big big relief.

we’ll be laying low this weekend.
and even though david won’t do a lot of trick or treating,
we have a super cute costume to dress up!
matthias is going to be annikan, and david is going to be yoda!

Hi friends! David is doing so well. Mostly he wants to run around and we’re trying to make him lie in bed. Last night he ate pureed roasted chicken and applesauce (which he loved!!). This morning his chest x-ray came back a little fuzzy on the left lung-so they are looking into that. Overall, we are great, just tired. I’m off to get a big coffee!!

out little david is doing well.
surgery went great-no issues with anesthesia or the bypass machine.
thank you, Lord!!
last night they tried to take david off the breathing tube
but he wasn’t ready (couldn’t breathe on his own yet)
so they had to place the breathing tube again.
which was a bummer-
but they kept him sedated so he could rest and sleep off the anesthesia.
today he should lose the breathing tube and hopefully a couple other tubes.
we’ll be in the hospital another 4 days or so still.
lots of cuddling and {hopefully} quick healing.

it’s seriously the most humbling feeling in the world
to have people praying for your baby.
thank you for caring about david and for our family.

{so no, i’m not standing outside the hospital modeling, ha!!}

The surgeon just came down and talked to us. Everything went great. I am so relieved!! We’ve got some tough days of healing ahead, but we are over the biggest hurdle. Thank you for all your sweet words and prayers. We have felt so loved and you are a blessing!!

david was cleared for surgery at ucla yesterday
we checked into our hotel right near the hospital
and grabbed some dinner at the hotel restaurant.

david spent some serious time jamming on his guitar before bedtime.
look at that face. he is so serious about his music!

the balcony of our room overlooks the freeway.
it’s pretty fun to watch the city from up here.
and it makes me glad i’m not sitting in LA traffic.

we arrive at ucla at 4:45 am to get prepped for surgery.

today we head down to LA with david to see the nurse practioner and {hopefully!} get cleared for surgery. then if all goes well, david heads into surgery at 7am tomorrow!

my stress level is pretty high, my emotions are all over the place.
i’m sad to leave matthias (but so glad he’s with grandma!)
i’m worried about david–but so anxious to put the surgery behind us.

what a perfect, lazy saturday
after chocolate chip pancakes
matty and i headed out to browse some garage sales
but the weather was gloomy and no one was having sales,
so we got a coffee and browsed the bookstore
and looked around urban outfitters.
back home we laid around,
i painted a buffet for the workshop
and we watched a movie.
mmmm, a perfect saturday!

oh it’s been a crazy week around here.
david’s white blood cell count was high
which meant they might postpone surgery
which made mama (me) feel like i was constantly on the verge of tears
because i’m a planner
and i just want to get this dang surgery over with
and move on.
but yesterday we got the ‘all-clear’ for surgery
phew.
and i sighed a BIG sigh of relief.

and while i am still anxious about the surgery,
i am thankful we’re moving forward.
and it seems like a good day to celebrate with sweet little earrings.

i’m not sure how many ‘birds on a wire’ pictures one girl needs,
but i love them. i stop often to take a pic of all those little birdies
perched up there.
