what i wore wednesday (a little late!)

November 24th | what i wore wednesday

wednesday evening already!? and only two outfits to share. but…

tomorrow is turkey day. yay!!

it’s been really cold around here. well, cold for california! about 60*.

apple + blackberry cobbler

November 23rd | food & goodies

this super easy cobbler is a big hit around here.

it’s just three basic ingredients-fruit, a box of white cake mix and a stick of butter.

i’ve seen similar recipes–i just changed mine slightly!

1. i use an apple peeler/corer/slicer and cut up about 5 apples.

2. sprinkle cinnamon over apples

3. i used frozen blackberries (2 packages)

4. cover with one box of dry, white cake mix

5. slice up one cube of butter and place over the top

6. bake at 350* for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.

good/crazy

November 22nd | family

it was such a good weekend.

we were home! and we laid around,

made pancakes, did laundry (only a little),

saw a movie, and built legos.

it was wonderful!

matthias and i went on a little hike

and gathered a bunch of branches.

i can’t wait to show you the project i am cooking up.

and david was so energetic

and happy and had a great appetite.

he really turned a corner in the last few days.

yay! so excited he is feeling great.

he’ll return to school after thanksgiving.

i’ve been working on a few projects for the holidays.

i plan to share step by step instructions for you.

they are easy and pretty and affordable.

i hope you’re ready to get inspired!

it’s a short week (the boys are out wed-friday for thanksgiving)

and we are grocery shopping and meal planning

and gearing up for a much needed break.

monday, oh monday hit me like a ton of bricks!

i was super emotional/overwhelmed/frustrated i can’t get my rhythm back.

after a mini meltdown and a good cry i think i’m good again.

today is a new day.

i’m gonna let it be imperfect.

November 16th | david, finding love

david’s been out of school for 4 weeks now.

two more weeks to go.

and we hang out all the time.

i’ve gotten pretty good at one handed typing.

it’s tough when we are both trying to send emails at the same time–

but we are working it out.

i love you, sweet david!

ps–cardio postponed us to tomorrow so we are in LA another day.

everything looked pretty good with pulmonologist today.

they are switching up his inhaler medication. love to all of you!!

today i’m just going to share some random things on my mind.

1. my car broke down the other day. and all of the pics in this post were my view

while i waited for the tow truck.

if i have to wait for a tow truck, i might as well be by the beach.

2. yesterday i felt discouraged and overwhelmed all day.

it’s hard getting our rhythm back. the house is a mess. we need groceries.

i felt down all day.

3.  lately i’ve been craving a western bacon cheeseburger from carl’s jr.

i seriously hate their commericals.

but i’m weak. i had one last night for dinner.

4. i’m in LA today for follow-up visits with david’s doctors.

he’s doing so great! (hope they agree!)

5.  my favorite color combination lately is peach and tan. love it.

i want to start decorating but i’m trying to wait another week.

7.  i just went through all the boys clothing and donated two huge bags.

now it’s time to purge my closet!

weekend of rest

November 15th | finding beauty

what a great weekend!

it fed my soul, seriously.

slow paced, great conversations,

time with my mom and sis.

wonderful!

they shared their journeys of losing husbands,

losing children, and unexpected joy.

it was so beautiful (and unexpected) to make this connection.

the grounds at the retreat center

are so lovely.

but mostly, it was good for me to breathe.

and have time to think

and reflect.

i knew i needed that, but i didn’t know how much!

david has follow up visits at ucla.
