sunday {love}

December 19th | thoughts

david and i are both fighting a cold and feeling a little crummy and extra snuggly.

steve and matthias are off to church.

and it’s a rainy day {again}. it’s nice to stay in.

i want us all to get well before christmas-so i don’t mind fighting a cold now.

i wish colds weren’t a part of our holiday tradition, but i think they are. oh well!

happy sunday to you!

a little bit of winter.

how’s the weather?

December 17th | finding beauty, san luis obispo

last week i took a walk around the lake. with the chilly temp, fog and morning dew, it was absolutely breath-taking.

today it’s rainy and about 60* on the central coast of california. and i just want to stay in all day! what’s the weather like in your corner of the world?

workshop entryway

December 16th | decorating

we have a really cool entry way as you enter our workshop-so i wanted to make it warm and inviting. the buffet was $60 on craigslist (and i painted it black). the mirror was a hand-me-down and rug was on a huge mark down from world market because of a hole in one corner. the other treasures were thrifted or tj maxx bargains. so fun!

handmade cards

December 15th | DIY

this is such a fun little project that i found in sunset magazine.

it’s quick and if you probably have a lot of the materials needed on hand!

i punched one half hole at the top of the paper ( to create a groove) and six half holes at the bottom. then i used the embroidery thread to weave the tree from top to bottom.

i taped the beginning of the thread and then the end-it’s on the backside so no one will ever see it! then i slipped the tree into a black photo card and finished with a hand-stamped ‘merry’ tag.

this would be a great project to do with kids. older kids can probably do the project independently. smaller kids can decorate the tree with stickers after it’s made.

do you hand-make your holiday cards or gift tags?
