let’s hang out!

April 28th | blog friends, decorating, san luis obispo

i’ve got friends coming to stay this weekend–so excited!

we are planning to swing by the always inspiring stitch market, then on saturday we’ll be over at remnants of the past in nipomo and sunday i’m bringing jewelry and goodies to my absolutely favorite shop ruby rose here in san luis obispo. so exciting! please come hang out–especially at ruby rose. i’ll be there from 12-2pm {and there will be cupcakes i hear!}

right now i’m on the hunt for a bench and some vintage wall art for the boys bathroom. also, i’d love to find a couple more medium sized globes for our living room. are you on the hunt for any special items?

what i wore wednesday

April 27th | what i wore wednesdays

hi friends! time for a little fashion inspiration with lindsey! did you see her new bloom belt–so dang cute!!

above, jeans anthro. polka dot dress, tj maxx. yellow cardi, wedges both target. blessed and lucky necklace.

easter sunday! the boys were in orange and green-so i went with a little color too. dress, boots, both anthro. green cardi, target. rosette necklace allora handmade. molded heart bracelet.

above, jeans, uptown denim {in san luis obispo}, striped top, wedges, both target. same allora handmade necklace {love it with navy!}. molded heart bracelet.

today’s somewhat random question…given the choice between the most amazing chocolate cake or a basket of absolutely incredible french fries, which would you choose? as for me? i’ll the chocolate cake–every time.

anatomy of a family picture

April 26th | family, photography

first, find a good spot. this room was pretty darn clean and the light was good. i set up the tripod and a diffused flash before i gathered anyone.

once it it’s all set up, begin to gather family together for the photo. this is a good time to consider bribing kids. remember to keep the photo session as short as possible. try your best to keep from getting stressed.

be open to a little silliness–it can make for a better pic.

ok, forget what i said about silliness–sometimes it makes for a worse pic. once everyone is gathered, be prepared to take at least 10-15 of the same shot. with our family it’s probably more like 25-50. ha!
david doesn’t want to sit still and could care less about looking at the camera. matthias wants to be silly and makes cheesy smiles. getting a natural family photo is pretty tricky.let it be imperfect. this one is the best of the bunch!

how often do you take family pics?

how to make a spring wreath

April 25th | DIY

a friend and i got together last week to make some spring wreaths with yarn and felt. a seriously fun and easy project–and some good time to talk and hang out too!

we used grapevine wreaths and wrapped yarn around one side, then i cut free form flowers and hot glued them into place.

hers was less free form and it turned out super sweet! she rolled flowers with felt and cut out the cutest leaves to finish it off.  here’s a great tutorial for rolled felt roses-so sweet!

now my front door is all ready for spring!

saturday love

April 23rd | photography

above, a few instagram pics from this week. spray paint-i’m cooking up a project. ruby rose-one of very favorite shops. auntie chrissie snuggling a conked out david. and a close-up of a flower.

this morning we have an easter egg hunt and this evening i’ll fill up easter baskets. we’ve had family in town all week and they leave this afternoon–so our easter will be quiet. we’ll go to church and then out to lunch in morro bay. happy easter, friends!  what are your weekend plans?

a beautiful day

April 22nd | adventures, family

last weekend we went to avila beach for the afternoon.

it was the first day of spring break and the weather was so beautiful! about 85*!

{isn’t that aqua cottage so cute?!}

someone was having a celebration–we weren’t invited, but i loved the paper lanterns!

it was making me long for summer!

and more free time.

more time to play and feel the sun on my shoulders.

and lounge under an umbrella near the water. that sounds like heaven!

and ice cream. both steve and i choose cookie dough. david likes berry {non-diary} and matthias likes rainbow sherbert.

matthias and david would like to know–what’s your favorite kind of ice cream?
