avila beach

June 30th | an everyday moment, family, san luis obispo

one great thing about living in san luis obispo, is that it’s a vacation spot for many of our friends. so we end up getting to hang out with some pretty awesome people we don’t get to see nearly as much as we’d like. take the millers for example!
they were staying in avila beach {about 15 minutes south} so we went down to their hotel for the evening.

the kids had a blast playing in the rec room, swimming and eating BBQ and i loved getting to hang out with my friends. the whole evening was refreshing.

it was like a mini-vacation. we love you, millers! please come back soon.

i love to spend the afternoon at the beach or plan an overnighter to nearby cambria or carpinteria.

what is your favorite {close-by} getaway spot?

what i wore wednesday

June 29th | what i wore wednesdays

it’s wednesday, which probably means i’m linking up with lindsey for some fashion inspiration!

this is an outfit i wore to the workshop. wide leg jeans, anthropologie. sheer, polka dot top, target {5 years ago}, black tank, local shop. black wedges, old navy. play every day necklace, my shop.

although i lean toward solids in my clothing {it’s easier to mix and match} i love to mix in some polka dots, florals or a stripe now and then. are you drawn to any kind of print in your wardrobe?

salvage, morro bay

June 28th | decorating, inspiration

i came across the prettiest little shop in morro bay a couple weeks ago.
she has a great collection of vintage seascapes, blue glass and linens.love these aprons hung on a clothesline. so sweet.

it’s located right across from dorns on morro bay blvd. her hours are sporadic, but you can call to make sure they’re open 805-801-0085.

i’m on the hunt for a couple of vintage, upholstered chairs or a beautiful vintage leather couch.  if you could choose to come across the perfect little treasure, at the perfect little price–what would your treasure be?

school’s out

June 27th | adventures, family

to celebrate the first day of summer, we met up with my sister and her girls in santa barbara last week.

the day involved, cupcakes, the park, the beach, another park, cookies, and lots of silliness.

the kids were exhausted by the end of the day.  it’s not relaxing–but it’s so much fun.

even their new chihuahua, gilbert, joined us. isn’t he cute?!

stick art. i love to see kids being creative!

and of course we collected as much sand as possible–in the cuff of our jeans, pockets, tennis shoes, etc.

so good to celebrate summer and let the kids play and play and play. now i’m ready for a quiet {and long} lunch with my sister!

right now my boys are into coloring, swords, playing piano, sand play, and swimming.

if you have kids, what are they into right now?

my sister’s home

June 23rd | decorating, DIY

we were able to grab a super quick dinner with my sister at new home a few weeks ago. they recently moved and chrissie has made such a beautiful home for her family.

she’s exceptional at creating collages of photos, frames and paintings. i am so inspired!

we found this metal peacock at a thrift store for $2. it was a fairly hideous copper color with irridescent feathers. she spray painted it aqua and gave it new life.

she also likes to have pops of red throughout her home. i love this vintage scale and fresh produce.

the pic on the left is another collage and on the right is their cute pup.

a collection of vintage ‘R’s’ make a playful display in the kitchen. i love this leather chair with pretty pillows.

books, books, books–can you tell they’re a family who loves to read??

i would describe her home as warm and inviting with lots of dark wood and natural light. it’s vintage mixed with new and filled with art and photos. it’s peaceful and spacious and full of love.

i love your home, sis!

what i wore wednesday

June 22nd | what i wore wednesdays

it’s wednesday and i’m linking up with lindsey for some fashion inspiration!

i got this denim top from chicos. i never shop chicos but i couldn’t find a denim top anywhere and i found this one online. it’s lightweight and super comfy. i know it’s going to be a summer favorite. skirt, t-shirt, both forever 21. flip flops, old navy

i wore it again, tucked in with a floral skirt {local boutique}. belt, banana republic. flip flops, old navy. molded heart bracelet, sun droplet necklace, both from my shop.

today’s very important question… if you are going to spend an afternoon relaxing at the beach or on a sipping iced tea on a lounge chair, what do you want to have for reading material?
