winners!

July 30th | blog friends, decorating

our three lucky {and randomly chosen} winners for the current issue of cottages & bungalows mag and a custom, oval wall hanging are…

beth who said, for a quick fix at my house I would probably update our jack n jill bathroon with some new paint. Grandmothers house, and everything is the same color. :( some paint and maybe a few accessories would spruce it up nice.

jackie who said, thats awesome!! with the money i think id redo our dining room a bit..

kira who said, I would makeover our master bedroom since that is where we spend most of our time and it should be the best room in the house. I would first paint it a warm neutral color, some cute window treatments to spice it up a little, then hang family pics on the wall, and would love to get a cute, vintage light fixture, maybe a chandelier!

congratulations ladies! and thank you cottages and bungalows magazine!

books, books, books

July 28th | an everyday moment, food & goodies

chrissie and i spent some serious time pouring over used books in carpinteria last week. they have some beautiful old books, art books, cook books, novels, classics–so fun! sometimes i pick up a book at target or borrow from my friends or sisters.

where do you get your books?

what i wore wednesday

July 27th | blog friends, what i wore wednesdays

it’s wednesday which means i’m linking up with lindsey over at the pleated poppy. i have a fun outfit to share today!
a package arrived in the mail a few weeks ago from jeanne oliver. i think it repeated the phrase ‘please, dear God, let it fit, please dear God, let it fit’ about 10x while i ran upstairs to try on this new, gorgeous yellow dress.

and guess what?! it fit perfectly! i paired it with two petal pushers from the pleated poppy, jeans from anthropologie, wedges from target, and an aqua stones necklace wrapped around my wrist. sunglasses {above} from crush.

and of course my trusty molded heart bracelet and my sun droplets necklace.

i forsee a lot of this yellow in my wardrobe this fall. and also, worn brown leather boots, and maybe a cozy olive scarf.

yellow seems to span all seasons for me. what’s your favorite any season color?

sunflowers

July 21st | finding beauty, thoughts

“the sunflower is mine, in a way.”
— vincent van gogh

it’s true, sunflowers always remind me of vincent van gogh. i am always amazed at how hardy sunflowers are, and how much water they drink. but mostly i love their bright color and how happy they are!

have you ever grown sunflowers or do you purchase bouquets for your home?
