last saturday, sarah and i met in santa barbara for some girl time. it’s about 2 hours south for me, 2 hours north for her and the perfect place to hang out.
she was my college roommate and since we have so much history, it’s become the kind of friendship where you grab a cup of coffee, pour out your soul and completely lose track of time.
it was seriously a breath of fresh air. i needed a little time away. i needed quiet time in the car to drive and think. i needed to talk and take my time and not take care of kiddos.
i needed a little chips and salsa and time to sit outside under the patio while it rained.

Yes I have! Last weekend two long time friends from college and I made arrangements (lots of them with work and kid obligations!) to cut loose for the beach. It was three days of girl talk, laughing, eating and even getting a little extra sleep. Man it was fun!
So Fun! I’m going there this weekend with friends… can’t wait! I’m looking forward to checking out Tracy Porter’s new store,.. did you? I’m hoping to hit some thrift shops too. Know any good ones? thanks ;-).

yes we did check out tracy’s new store–loved it! i bought a dress too! don’t know of any good thrift shops. but i love carlitos for mexican food!! xo
had a great weekend! went to tracy porter, bought a duster & top…both on sale, yes!! we went to carlitos… sooo good, thanks! didn’t have time to find any thrift shops but i did find some awesome rocks and a piece of driftwood on the beach. I put them on my fireplace mantel… i love things that are pretty & free. my family might think i’m nuts but i swear i saw that same piece of wood in a store on state street for 40 bucks… :).
I started doing the 30 Day Shred each night and make sure I follow through. I forgot how great I feel doing it!

After my annual girly drs. appt this am I snuck to the mall across the street. All.By.Myself… I NEVER get to shop alone without child in tow! I started running last summer… have lost 15 lbs, feel strong & healthy and finally don’t HATE how I look in clothes… 10th anniv cruise in June and after trying on 10, 432 bathing suits found one I love… first new bathing suit in 2 years – yeah!
so happy for you, lisa!! time with friends is precious, and i’ve learned that over my long 15 years of life… 😉
I purchased my first Gussy tote a couple weeks ago – and am anxiously awaiting its arrival! It’s a ‘just for me’ gift to myself!! 🙂

My cousin, who is like my sister {neither of us has a sister and we are the only girls in the fam}, had me up to her place in Seattle the weekend of my birthday recently. We went to the spa for eight hours, had lazy meals, watched movies, read, laughed…I came back home to my little family a much better mama!
We have a great coffee shop here in ontario, canada called second cup. They have the best chai tea. I go their by myself and enjoy a great magazine and a cup of tea.
A friend of mine recently won a necklace of yours from a blog contest and it’s BEAUTIFUL! I came to your website to take a look and am so excited to see that you have a blog too! Can’t wait to make my first purchase and to read more of your beautiful posts. 🙂
i haven’t been without my kids in years. i can’t even shower by myself without somebody’s little face pressed up to the door asking for something. glad you had a wonderful time with your girlfriend. santa barbara is so beautiful!
I made an old favorite food, even though my hubbie was skeptical and not sure, just because I liked it. It was DE-licious!! Just like I remembered.
I took a shower without a baby screaming half way through! Woo-hoo!

I used to live in Santa Barbara but now live in Pennsylvania. I miss it so much. We travel back to visit at least every other year. Have you been in the shop Rooms and Gardens? If you haven’t you need to take your boys there (plus you will LOVE it also). They have a beautiful courtyard garden in the back of the shop with a chicken coop. I posted a little about it last summer.

YES! I went shopping all by myself this past weekend and I LOVED IT!! It was so calming and gave me a chance to breath for a little while. Retail therapy always does the trick for me 🙂

It’s been awhile – but yes! Yesterday I took a personal day and hubby took over teaching the girls for me so I could clothes shop, research our vacation (we’ll be in your area in one month), and read. It was a glorious 7 hours. Tomorrow one of my besties is keeping my girls for a few hours so that I can get a massage. Aren’t good friends such a blessing?
There is nothing like girl time! I recently ordered a bowl from you, for my best friend, in the world, and spent 2 nights with her. She loved it , and we loved our time,, There is nothing like going for a walk, and taling with her, it seems timeless! Thank you again , for your work!
Friendships like that are so sweet and so refreshing. I don’t know what I’d do without my BFF/college roommate Emmy. She feeds my soul! Loved the Santa Barbara pics too – I miss that town!

I LOVE girl time somethin fierce! Theres just nothing like it. So glad you made the effort to make it happen. Sometimes it takes just that…effort. But its so worth it!

Not in recent memory, no, but my Husband’s job has had him very very busy. Hopefully soon after his busy time is over, I can get away. I’d love to do something similar to what you did with Sarah with my friend who lives about 4 hours away. 🙂
I’ve been dreaming of a girls weekend that last couple of days. I haven’t spent a single night or day away from my son since he was born 18 months ago. I am definitely craving a little “me time” 🙂

So nice! I had a “mommy-to-be massage” courtesy of my hubby… and it was fantastic. I relaxed and enjoyed every moment of it!
