Cameron Ingalls

June 18th | blog friends, inspiration, photography

Did you see our new summer collection? Oh my goodness, it speaks to my heart. I hope it speaks to yours, too! We have a photographer on staff and she’s seriously amazing {we love you, Alex!} but the day of our photo shoot she got really, really sick. Our friend Cameron Ingalls jumped in and handled the summer shoot for us–how amazing is that?!

I thought it would be fun to tell you about the first time I met Cameron. I already knew he was. I mean, he’s an incredible, world famous photographer. He also happens to live in the same town as us, and we have mutual friends. I kept hoping I would meet him. And then one day it happened!

My family was having dinner at Del’s Pizzeria {so yummy if you’re in the area!} and as we were leaving someone came up behind me and asked if I was Lisa Leonard. I replied that I was and he introduced himself as Cameron Ingalls. It is cheesy to tell you that I was a little starstruck? Well–it’s the truth. He is so talented. I got a little tongue tied to be honest!

 A lot has happened since our chance meeting at Del’s that night. Our families have become friends and we’ve had many opportunities to work together on projects.

Cameron has a magazine called Wedding Standard {I know, he’s amazing, right?!} And we got to do a spread on cake toppers.

Last Father’s Day we interviewed him for our series ‘What rocks about being a dad‘. It was a breakfast shoot at their adorable home.

I was a guest speaker for a workshop he held here in San Luis Obispo and I also created some styled shoots for the photographers.

And last but certainly not least, he’s taken our family photos the last couple of years for Christmas. These photos are so precious to me!

 Make sure to check out his blog and like his facebook page. And of course, you can see the beautiful photos he took for our summer collection here.

{thank you, Cameron. you rock!}

hello monday {remnants of the past}

June 17th | blog friends, events, inspiration, san luis obispo

Hello friends! Hello brand new week! Today I’m sharing pics of the Remnants of the Past show. What A FUN day it was. It was also a very windy day. VERY windy. But mostly it was just fun. I’m honored that I got to be part of it.

Jen of Earth Angels Studios carries our heartfelt collection–so I made an appearance at the event to chat about our jewelry with guests of the show. It was so fun. The ladies were so incredibly excited to hear my story and talk about the jewelry.

That’s Jen on the left–one of the most FUN, energetic and smart women I know. And that’s Ben the owner of Folk Magazine on the right. We’ve worked together before–but I hadn’t met him until that weekend. And he’s incredible. Loved him.

I’m sure you all know Jo Packham of Where Women Create, Where Women Cook and more. I haven’t seen her in a couple years and it was great to get some time together. This woman is seriously amazing.

I also got to know Laurie Meseroll of Mudcakes. This woman’s got style and spunk. I tried not to ask her nerdy questions, like ‘how do you get your eyeliner to look so awesome?’. Play it cool, Lisa, play it cool.

Ruby Rose dressed me for the event with a super fun crinoline, eyelet dress and cardi. I love Ruby Rose!!

I was so inspired at the end of the day. Amazing business people, incredible artists and more vintage finds than a person can handle. Pretty much perfect, don’t you think?

How about some hellos for a new week?

Hello SUMMER! We are in full summer mode around here. That means lazy mornings, frozen yogurt and trips to the beach. Love.

Hello trying to squeeze in a little work here and there. {when I’d rather just play!!}

Hello quick trip to Dallas at the end of the week. I hate to leave my boys but I can’t wait to see my nieces!

Hello brand new summer collection. I’m incredibly excited about it. And many pieces are limited edition–so hurry over to check it out.

Hello party planning. We’re having a celebration for Steve’s doctorate and David’s birthday is right around the corner.

Hello pancakes. I’ve been making them almost every morning–with lots of chocolate chips.

Hello love! I’m so glad you’re here!

Hello Monday! What are you saying hello to this week? Leave some hellos in the comments section for us.

Remnants of the past {this weekend!}

May 29th | blog friends, events

Hey friends! This weekend is the Remnants of the Past Antique Show. It’s going to be so fun! If you’re local–please come on by. Or if you feel like making a road trip–do it this weekend!

The event is so visually inspiring. I just want to soak it all up.

I love all thing vintage, textured and full of warmth and love–don’t you?

It’s at The Madonna Inn–which is something to see on it’s own. I love that place. Jo Packham from Where Women Create and Ben Ashby of Folk magazine will be there too.

I’ll be there on Saturday, June 1st, from 11am-2pm with Jen O’Connor from Earth Angels Studios. Come say hi and hang out with us. Follow Remnants of the Past on Facebook here. You can see more details here.

craft weekend {part one}

May 9th | blog friends, events

Oh craft weekend, you are GOOD for the soul! I haven’t unpacked all my treasures from last weekend–I think I don’t want to admit it’s over.

Chrissie and I flew into Wichita late Thursday night, grabbed a milkshake from McDonald’s and drove three hours to Kansas City to do a morning show segment with Better TV, Kansas City. After the segment we did some hard core thrifting and drove back to Wichita to meet up with Meg, Kimberlee and the girls for craft weekend.

One of my favorite thrifted treasures is this apple red stapler–that works! $3.

I love vintage glassware but I hardly buy it as my boys tend to break it. We use plastic around here ;)

My twin sis, Chrissie completes me–and I know that’s totally cheesy but it’s also totally true!

When it comes to thrifting, that girl doesn’t mess around. She had to buy another suitcase to get all her {{amazing}} treasures home.

I couldn’t resist these adorable yellow metal letters. A perfect reminder to PLAY a little every day.

Dear friends. I wish I had more time with them–it’s never enough! Meg is honest and funny and heartfelt and REAL.

We had some gray skies and chilly rain. It felt more like winter than spring!

Do you know Kimberlee? Man, I love this girl. We share a heart connection. I haven’t laughed as hard or cried as much in a long time. Seriously GOOD!

This group can CRAFT! They are pros–and so sweet. And funny. I laughed a lot!!

And a thrifted dress–more on this one soon.

Just looking at these pics makes me want to go back. Have you done something that’s good for your soul today?

orange bird shop

May 3rd | blog friends

Hey friends! I’ve been so excited to tell you about Orange Bird. I met DW at Meg’s craft weekend last year and we hit it off. That girl is amazing and full of heart! Her and Birdie have combined efforts to sell handmade goods and make a difference.

In their own words…

The Orange Bird Shop is an online store featuring handmade items with all profits going to benefit some of  “the least of these” in our world. Right now, all of our profits are going towards The James 1:27 Project, a mission in Kenya, Africa, that serves widows and orphans in need. Specifically, we are raising money to cover the cost of a housing and water cistern project for a widowed mother, named Francesca, who is living with HIV/AIDS, and her three sons. It is a win/win situation when you shop at The Orange Bird Shop…you get an awesome handmade item and Francesca and her family get a livable house and clean water!

I think this sock monkey cozy is too cute! And how about this hand warmer for $7–I love anything heart shaped! When you shop at Orange Bird you’re helping bring clean water to this family. Read more about it here. And ‘like’ their facebook here.

Hello Monday {inRL with sarah markley}

April 29th | blog friends, hello monday

It’s a new week and fresh start! We’re waking up in LA and getting ready for some doctor visits this week. Thank you for your kind words and prayers. I am so grateful.

Seriously–it makes my heart happy.

Saturday, Sarah Markley opened her gorgeous home for an inRL gathering with {in}courage. About 40 women came together to talk about mentorship, get to know each other and enjoy some {amazing} cupcakes. There was other yummy food too, but the cupcakes were epic. If you want to see the videos shared at the gathering, you can register here and watch the videos here.

Sarah welcomed each of us and made hosting 40 strangers look easy. Well done Sarah!

Is your mouth watering? Mine is!

I love plates on the wall. And I love a wall collage.

 Making new friends is stretching, but it’s a beautiful thing, don’t you think?

It was so good to see Dee of Red Letter Words again. That’s Sarah in the middle and me on the right.

Here’s the whole gang! It was a lovely afternoon. My heart was encouraged.

How about some hellos for a new week?

Hello multiple visits to UCLA. Thank you for thinking of us this week!

Hello staying with my sisters. They are gracious and very patient hosts.

Hello getting ready for craft weekend. I’m very very excited.

Hello morning show in Kansas City this week. I’m getting a few things together for DIY ideas–can’t wait to share it here.

Hello cutting back on sugar and carbs. Let’s not talk about the cupcake I munched on over the weekend.

Hello reconnecting with old friends while we’re in LA. Here’s to a long dinner and good conversation.

Hello warm sun on my shoulders.

Hello Monday. It’s going to be a busy week! Ready, go!

snap conference {recap}

April 25th | blog friends, events

Last weekend was the Snap! Conference in Salt Lake City. It’s targeted towards creative bloggers and it was an inspiring time together! There were fabulous speakers and also creative classes. I met so many amazing women and left encouraged. If you’re a creative blogger, I recommend attending next year!

The barn is where big meetings and meals took place–such a cool building!

Here’s the inside of the barn–with all the paper lanterns, it was magical.

Alissa from Rags to Stitches came along with me for my Studio 5 segment. We stopped and got cupcakes on the way.

Did you watch the Studio 5 segment? We had fun!

Utah in the spring is beautiful! The trees were blooming. There were tulips and daffodils everywhere. I love spring!

I spy a ‘falling leaves’ necklace on Sew Caroline!

Above is a pic of me during my keynote. Tauni asked me questions and I shared from my experience and my heart. It was a sweet time.

A waffle truck? Yes, please!

Jessica from The Mom Creative using a miter saw. Impressive!

So good to see old friends. Some of them I haven’t seen in a couple years. Love these girls!

Jessica and I explored Salt Lake City and saw the temple. I’m not Mormon, but it was breathtaking!

I found an old devotional that I brought back for Steve. It was published in 1830! I loved the worn cover and brown pages.

It’s good to be home but I’m not here for long. We travel to LA for doctor visits and then next weekend I’m off to Kansas for a craft weekend with Meg. Insane but so fun!!

Have you been to any good conferences lately or is there a conference you really want to attend?

Podcast with Simple Mom

April 22nd | blog friends, thoughts

I’ve got a new podcast with Simple Mom! In this episode we talk about speaking and doing LIVE television shows. We talk about creativity and making time to get inspired. And we talk about a bit our faith too!

These podcasts are really fun to listen to. It’s kind of like being a fly on the wall and overhearing someone’s conversation. I often listen to them while I’m doing dishes or driving around town. I love getting to know people better through podcasts! Click here to listen in!

ever + mi crush

April 17th | blog friends, what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing

Happy Wednesday friends! I’m linking up with Lindsey from The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration. Today I’m sharing a dress from ever+mi crush–it’s such a sweet dress. Their shop is filled with so many fun dresses that feel vintage–when they asked me to pick one, I had a hard time choosing! And their prices are reasonable–love that.

I chose the Tromp L’oeil dress and I styled it two different ways. I sized up to a large {I’m usually a medium}. The dress looks like a skirt and top–so I tried to approach it with that perspective.

For the first look I layered on an embroidered sweater, nude textured hose and nude heels. I thought the colors of the sweater blended perfectly! Scroll down for outfit details!

Look one details: Dress, ever+mi crush. Embroidered sweater, Ambiance. Nude textured hose, Target. Nude heels, thrifted. Petite Crest Bracelet {oh how I love this bracelet!} My shop.

For look two I layered on a jean jacket and leopard print heels. I think this looks was a little more funky–but still fun! I kept the textured hose because the weather has been chilly–plus they help me feel more covered! Scroll down for details on this outfit.

Look two details: Dress, ever+mi crush. Leopard print heels, Target. Denim jacket, Gap. Nude textured hose, Target. Gold connected bracelet, my shop.

Hop over to Facebook and like ever+mi crush’s page!

Do you love vintage-inspired clothing as much as I do?

Seen here and there

March 12th | blog friends

The past few weeks I have seen our pieces popping up here and there around blogland. I love seeing how other people style our pieces so I figured you’d like to see too. Check out some of my favorite bloggers and hop over to their page for some serious inspiration.

Ashley, from Little Miss Momma, is beautiful on the inside and out. In this feature, she writes about being an only child. Such a sweet post. Ashley is wearing the gold basic rectangle necklace and the golden hearts necklace.

This beautifully decorated cake with our celebrate banner cake topper was featured by Rubyellen and her kiddos over at Cakies. Rubyellen blogs about faith, her four kiddos and husband, yummy recipes and more. I love catching up on her blog and getting inspired.

This is JJ from Blah Blah Blahger featuring our leather cuff with “blah blah blah” customized. Love it! JJ writes hilarious stories about funny experiences and amusing observations. I always walk away from reading her posts thoroughly entertained.

This is Heather from Cookie Mondays featuring February’s “love has found me” charm from our build a charm bracelet {no longer available} as a necklace.  Heather sells ADORABLE banners and writes about DIY projects. She definitely stays true to her slogan– “making everyday sweet.”

I love the styling of this photo. It’s inspiring– and taken by the adorable Rachel from Smile and Wave. Rachel writes about life, home décor and vintage inspiration. The necklace shown is one of my all time favorites– the gold chevron necklace.

It’s so fun to see my jewelry and keepsakes as part of your lives. Do you have a photo to share? Email me at Lisa at Lisa leonard online dot com and  let me know! Or share with us in the comments what piece your wearing lately and what it means to you.
