Hello Monday {inRL with sarah markley}

April 29th | blog friends, hello monday

It’s a new week and fresh start! We’re waking up in LA and getting ready for some doctor visits this week. Thank you for your kind words and prayers. I am so grateful.

Seriously–it makes my heart happy.

Saturday, Sarah Markley opened her gorgeous home for an inRL gathering with {in}courage. About 40 women came together to talk about mentorship, get to know each other and enjoy some {amazing} cupcakes. There was other yummy food too, but the cupcakes were epic. If you want to see the videos shared at the gathering, you can register here and watch the videos here.

Sarah welcomed each of us and made hosting 40 strangers look easy. Well done Sarah!

Is your mouth watering? Mine is!

I love plates on the wall. And I love a wall collage.

 Making new friends is stretching, but it’s a beautiful thing, don’t you think?

It was so good to see Dee of Red Letter Words again. That’s Sarah in the middle and me on the right.

Here’s the whole gang! It was a lovely afternoon. My heart was encouraged.

How about some hellos for a new week?

Hello multiple visits to UCLA. Thank you for thinking of us this week!

Hello staying with my sisters. They are gracious and very patient hosts.

Hello getting ready for craft weekend. I’m very very excited.

Hello morning show in Kansas City this week. I’m getting a few things together for DIY ideas–can’t wait to share it here.

Hello cutting back on sugar and carbs. Let’s not talk about the cupcake I munched on over the weekend.

Hello reconnecting with old friends while we’re in LA. Here’s to a long dinner and good conversation.

Hello warm sun on my shoulders.

Hello Monday. It’s going to be a busy week! Ready, go!

Hello Monday

April 22nd | hello monday

Hello friends! I got back from Snap last night and I am moving slow this morning!

Last week I grabbed some craft supplies at Michael’s. I’m there at least once a week since there is one right by our workshop. We {Alex our marketing supervisor} and I decided to snap a few quick pics because the polka dot jeans are fun–but the aqua belt is unexpected. And I love adding something unexpected into an outfit.

I’ve got pics from Snap to share this week, a fun DIY and another outfit post. How about some hellos for a brand new Monday?

Hello being home. It’s a good place to be! And I missed my boys so much!

Hello getting inspired! I’ve been cooking up some fun projects–I can’t wait to tell you about them.

Hello inspiration shoot this week! It’s at the Sanitarium–can’t wait!

Hello getting ready for a few doctor visits in LA. We’re having David assessed by the craniofacial team at UCLA and I’m nervous.

Hello favorite bracelet {also pictured above}. I’ve been wearing it every day.

Hello Mother’s Day right around the corner. Did you pick out something special for your mom/sister/aunt/dear friend?

{Outfit details. Jeans, Target. Button up, H&M. Gray heels, H&M. Aqua belt, J Crew. Petite Crest Bracelet, My shop}

Hello low, comfortable heels. I got them from H&M and I want to go back and get a bright blue pair.

Hello sleepy. I’m going to need an extra cup of coffee today.

Hello sweetie. I’m going to need some extra kisses from Steve today.

Hello boys. I’m going to need some extra snuggles and hugs today.

Hello brand new, sunshiny week. It’s going to be a good one.

hello monday {family adventure, morro bay}

April 15th | adventures, family, hello monday

Hello friends! Today I’m saying good-bye to a very good weekend and hello to a brand new week. We were home most of this weekend which was much, much needed. I got lots of cleaning and organizing done–and I feel like a new woman! I feel like I can breathe–and that’s a good thing.

On Saturday, we drove over to lunch in Morro Bay and although Matthias complained the whole way there, he ended up having a great time. We are such mean parents.

We had fish and chips and burgers at Rocca’s. It’s a new spot on the embarcadero and we loved it.

Rocca’s had lots of surf decor, great food and the best part is it’s super kid friendly. Or maybe the best part was the view of Morro Rock?

Although the weather was about 65*, Matthias wore a winter cap. The kid’s got style, who am I to judge?

Somehow after lunch I convinced everyone to take a family pic. We had one shot–and this is what we got. Immediately after this pic we realized David had a crazy blow-out diaper. I rushed him to the bathroom and took care of the situation–but not before I had that “this is just too much of a mess to clean up” feeling. Somehow we got through it and moved on. Phew!

I love how gray this shot is, except for that bright sail. I didn’t photoshop it–that’s exactly how it looked.

Silly, silly David. Oh my, that kiddo has been independent and rascally. He is running circles around us and by bedtime we are worn out! Well, to be honest by 5pm we are worn out. Back to school tomorrow–woohoo!

Super awesome photobomb by Matthias.

I kept asking him to “act normal” for this picture. This actually is pretty normal–super silly is normal around here.

Matthias took this pic above–not bad! Maybe the kid has a future in photography.

We got ice cream and shakes near the rock. it’s a stand called ‘Crills’ with saltwater taffy and lots of yummies. Steve grew up going there.

We’ve never seen the otters this close up! They were all on their back and just swimming along. Adorable.

I love these boys.

On the way home, Steve drove me by an enormous field of sweet peas. It was so beautiful–this picture doesn’t do it justice at all!

Hello brand new week!

Hello getting ready for SNAP! I can’t wait.

Hello morning segment in Salt Lake city on Thursday. Anyone watch Studio 5?

Hello clean bedroom. The piles of clothes have been put away and I just want to gaze at how pretty the room looks!

Hello art lessons on Tuesdays. Matthias has been learning so much and loving it!

Hello having help. We recently hired a college student {who’s also a close friend} to pick up the kids from school a couple days a week, help with laundry, dishes, etc. It’s been amazing. I am so thankful to have help!

Hello fun Mother’s Day interviews and an inspiring DIY to share this week!

hello monday {bloom}

April 8th | hello monday

Hello friends! It’s a new beginning and a fresh start. How about some hellos?

Hello getting ready to share some new things with you tomorrow. I’m so excited!

Hello lack of sleep. David woke up at 5am on Saturday morning {not okay!} and Matthias woke up at 5am on Sunday morning {whhaaat?!}

This mama needs a nap.

Hello sunshine. The weather has been warming up–and while I know it’s not summer yet, it’s making me very happy!

Hello getting ready for SNAP! Are you going? I CANNOT wait. It’s going to be amazing!! And it’s less than two weeks away.

Hello weddings and babies. Some dear friends have had babies in the last couple weeks and we have a few weddings coming up too. I love weddings and babies, don’t you?  So much to celebrate.

Hello meal planning and grocery shopping that needs to happen today–otherwise it’s cereal for dinner {a real possibility!}

Hello incredibly messy desk and workshop that needs to be tidied up. I’ve sometimes been told that I’m unorganized.

Hello Call the Midwife–a BBC series we can’t get enough of–love it!

Hello to you!

hello monday {barn sale}

April 1st | hello monday, inspiration

Last week I spotted an invitation on Facebook for a barn sale. While I’m always interested in some good vintage junking–I think I was even more curious to be able to see the inside of this barn. It’s located on Los Osos Valley Road and I used to drive by it every day when we lived in Los Osos. It’s an awesome pink-red color and totally charming. The barn didn’t disappoint and I even ended up with a few fun paintings!

How about some hellos for a brand new week?

Hello green fields, blue skies and spring making it’s way into our lives. And that’s just fine with me!

Hello standing outside. Wondering what’s inside. Hello treasures waiting to be uncovered.

Hello little white lights. Oh how I love little white lights.

Hello coffee can. The color is awesome. The brushes are awesome. The whole thing inspires me.

Hello dishes. I do not need more dishes. I need less dishes. But they are so pretty.

Hello memories. I had this lunchbox. I remember how strawberry shortcake smelled–do you?!

Hello old paintings. Texture, color and imagination.

Hello metal ceiling. I would love to hang out here on a rainy day. Of course I’d need a cup of cocoa and a cozy spot to hang out and read a book.

Hello picnic basket, waiting to be packed with fresh fruit, cheese and crackers and taken on an adventure.

Hello end of spring break. Hello back to school for the boys!

Hello blurry background. Can you see that tiny barn back there?

Hello creating. I’m working on designing some new things this week and that makes me happy.

Hello meetings and planning. Oh so many meetings and so much planning!

Hello April. What?! Seriously?!

Hello catching up with old friends who are visiting this week. Yay!

hello monday {original art at the sanitarium}

March 18th | hello monday

It’s a brand new week. I’m waking up in Dallas today and I’ve got a to-do list a mile long. Phew!

This week I’m sharing pics of original art from the Sanitarium in San Luis Obispo. It’s a gorgeous B&B that used to be a hospital–and the owner and some employees create gorgeous paintings. How about some hellos?

Hello color! Hello pattern! Bright shades are making me happy. I’m longing for warmer weather.

Hello sunshine. We’ve had some gorgeous sunshine, but spring is fickle. I know it won’t last.

Hello seeing friends {and making new friends!} I think the connections I’ve made over the years at Blissdom is my favorite part of the conference.

Hello being stretched. This week I’m doing a morning show in Dallas and speaking at Blissdom. Have I ever mentioned I’m an introvert? I am so thankful for these opportunities–but it’s definitely stretching for me. And if you think of it, I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers!

Hello missing my boys. It’s hard to be away. I’m so thankful for my awesome husband who is also an incredible daddy. And for my mother-in-law who is coming to stay, too!

Hello craving beet salad with honey roasted almonds goat cheese. Random but oh so yummy!

Hello hotel room and not cooking. It’s nice to have a break.

Hello flowy skirts and boots packed for this trip.

Hello brother, sister in law and sweet nieces who happen to be in Dallas. It’s so nice to have family here.

Hello brand new, crazy busy, very exciting week.
