heaps of love necklace

February 9th | inspiration, jewelry

Sometimes I’ll be working on a piece–and it’s not coming out the way I planned. And then slowly, something else begins to emerge. And the piece seems to be almost making itself. When it’s finished, it’s completely different than the idea I began with. That’s what happened with this necklace–and I couldn’t be more excited about the results.

Heart upon heart stacked up to make the sweetest statement–i love you heaps and heaps. It’s regularly only $42 and today you can get and additional 15% off with code heaps15. Feel free to use the coupon for anything in our shop.

My husband heaps love on me by helping with the boys, holding my hand when we’re walking downtown, and working so hard for our family. My boys shower me with cuddles and kisses. And I have a few heart friends who sit with me and share with me and love me well. Has anyone given you a good helping of love lately?

more on my word: cherish.

January 5th | inspiration, jewelry

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want this year to look like. A big part of my stress and frustration with daily life is the lack of organization in our home. I’m the creative type so it’s easy for me to make excuses about keeping things in order. But when the the laundry mountain gets too tall and it’s 5:30pm and I still don’t know what’s for dinner, I’m not doing my creative energy, my family or myself any favors. I’m just overwhelmed.

And the awesome thing? A new year means a fresh start. A clean slate. A time for reflection and renewal. And it totally motivates me.

This year I plan to set aside time every day to keep the house in order and the fridge stocked.  With a little planning, I think I can actually save time and energy and have things run more smoothly.  So maybe my word for this year should have been organize or plan or homemaker. But my motivation to get things in order and to clear my mind is so that I have more energy to be with my boys.

I want to be present in the moment I’m in. I want to have a clear head with no nagging worries about the dishes or laundry. I know it won’t be perfect, but it can be better.

This year, I want to cherish the moment I’m in.

interview with our winter model, ashley stock

December 1st | blog friends, jewelry

you may have seen the gorgeous ashley stock {the famous little miss momma} popping up around our shop and blog. she and her husband, ben came up san luis obispo for a photo shoot to help us capture our winter line. isn’t she beautiful?! and better yet, she’s even more beautiful on the inside. ben and ashley, thank you for modeling for us. i am so glad to call you friends! we interviewed ashley so you can get to know her too.

If you could go anywhere this winter where would you go?

Oooo, so so many places I would love to visit in the Winter. But ever since my trip to Yosemite this Summer, I have been aching to stay at the famous Ahwahnee hotel for the holidays–wake up to snow capped mountains, sip hot chocolate by the fire and frolic in the snow all day.

What is your favorite holiday food or treat?

I live on homemade pumpkin cookies with frosting. Mmm, mmm, good.

What do you love most about the holiday season?

I love the smell of rain on the asphalt, the warmth of the fireplace and spirit of giving that fills the hearts of so many.

What gift(s) are you asking for this holiday season?

This might sound lame, but I am super excited to get a Vitamix blender to make my own smoothies and soup.

What is your favorite family holiday tradition?

My husband’s family has a tradition of delivering homemade cinnamon rolls to all their friends on Christmas Eve. We are looking forward to making this tradition our own this year.

What do you do to get inspired creatively?

I’m a Pinterest addict. As in, I need a support group. Window shopping antique stores, trips to the craft store, and long walks with a cup of hot chocolate–these help inspire me too.

What is your favorite lisa leonard designs piece?

This is a hard one. Every week it seems I have a new favorite. This week it’s the illuminate necklace, but last week it was the Feed Your Soul necklace.

I love all your answers, Ashley! So fun. Make sure to check out Ashley’s blog here.

Now it’s YOUR turn. Tell us what’s your favorite family holiday tradition?

more on machine gun preacher

October 4th | adventures, inspiration, jewelry

i have photos to share! {courtesy of relativity media} as you know, steve and i attended the LA premiere of machine gun preacher a couple weeks ago.

we walked the red carpet, mingled with the cast a bit and saw the movie before it was released in theaters. we partnered with the makers of the movie to create a keepsake for the LA premiere. everyone who attended received a necklace!

the movie was intense and moving. if you plan to see the movie, please be warned that there is lots of violence {and some cursing and sex}. the violence is hard to watch since the movie is based on a true story. and the LRA continues to attack villages and tear apart families.

gerard butler was incredibly warm and kind. He spent a few minutes chatting with steve and i and he loved the necklace.

um, yes, that is gerard butler’s arm around me. insane!!

here’s gerard with the necklace we created. the shape of the sudan is hand-stamped along with the message ‘for the children’. it’s cast in fine pewter and it’s gorgeous! we are offering them to our community for a limited time–so if you want one, hurry!

a portion of the sale from each necklace will go to the angels of east africa.

want one for yourself? you can find the machine gun preacher necklace here!

tiny twig necklace {love.}

September 18th | blog friends, inspiration, jewelry

this pretty little necklace has really stolen my heart. it’s so different than anything else we’ve done. i love the simple detail and the way the edges are artistically wire wrapped to sterling chain.

i loved seeing it around the gypsy mama’s neck in hilton head. and i think her sweet baby liked it too!

and when i saw it on my beautiful friend, sarah, i loved it even more!

it’s a piece of nature to wear around your neck–so lovely! and today and tomorrow, the tiny twig necklace is on sale here. so hurry!

happy sunday!

meet nichole

September 13th | blog friends, jewelry

today i want to introduce you to nichole, one of our models for the fall line. isn’t she darling? nichole and her husband {along with andrew barefoot} own cana video–which produces some seriously amazing movies. you can check out cana video here.

we asked nichole a few questions so you could get to know her a bit…

if you could go anywhere this fall where would you go?
- paso robles. I know it doesn’t sound the most exciting but people come from all over the place just to spend some time wine tasting in paso. I happen to be so fortunate to be only a 20 mintute drive away. There are so many great wineries and restaurants there. So I’d like to spend more time exploring my backyard, paso.  Or I’d like to road trip to the grand canyon and new mexico.

what are some your favorite things to grow in your garden?
-beets! I love beets! In my salad, plain, with goat cheese, in soup. Beets are so delicious, and they make your urine pink!

what is your favorite fall food or treat?
I love corn on a the cob with the fixings, or homemade pumpkin muffins…

what is your favorite lisa leonard designs piece?
I really like the autumn’s song bracelet. It’s a lovely touch with any of my outfits.

what do you love most about the fall?
All the changes. It’s a new season, I get to pull out my scarves and boots, I get to feature different veggies in my cooking, the colors turn and the air feels fresher. It’s hard to pick one thing that I love.

what is one of the best budget dates you & ben go on together?
Some times I’ll cook up an easy to pack dinner, and ben and I will go on a hike till we find a sweet spot to plant, and we’ll picnic with a beautiful view of the city or the ocean. Sometimes instead of hike we will scooter or tandem bike ride to a good picnic spot.

what are you excited to get out of your closet that you haven’t worn all summer?
All of my favorite coats and beanies and boots and scarves. Mostly the coats!

what do you do to get inspired creatively?
I guess I don’t really try to get inspired, because most of the things around me are always inspiring me. Whether I’m on a hike, in a coffee shop, at a friends house, the thrift store, anywhere. When I have an idea of some thing I want to make or do, things from all around me in my daily experiences pop out to be part of my crafts or cooking, or whatever it is that I’m doing.

thank you nichole! we love having your beautiful face on the website. you can find nichole’s favorite piece from the fall line {the autumn’s song bracelet} here.

now it’s your turn! what is YOUR favorite budget date or family activity??
