June 4th | jewelry, what I'm wearing

Oh sigh. We’ve been having some seriously beautiful weather around here. All I can think about is SUMMER! I’m making plans, signing up Matthias for zoo camp, ironing out details of our camping trip and getting EXCITED! The boys have their very last day of school tomorrow. Then I have a 5th grader and a seventh grader–which is NUTS!

I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration!

kimono top {love}

May 14th | jewelry, what I'm wearing

Oh man! You know sometimes you find a top that fits you just right and you think, I could wear this top every day! Well, this top is like that for me! I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration!

It’s the right amount of fitted and flowy. It feels vintage-y and updated. And it’s soft.

It’s kind of ‘kimono’ style and I layered a black camisole under.

With my favorite jeans and some easy heels, it makes for a comfortable, put-together, all day outfit. And that bracelet, pretty much on my wrist every day. I love the symbolism.

And this necklace has been around my neck the last couple days. It’s called ‘The Memory Keeper’.

I love the mixed metals.

Outfit details: Kimono top, Ruby Rose. Camisole, thrifted. Boyfriend jeans {LOVE order your regular size!}, Big Star. Nude heels, Target. Memory Keeper Necklace, My shop. Strong Love Bracelet, My shop.

We’re having a crazy heat wave here. It’s in the high 90* and it’s making me long for summer, swimming pools, slow mornings and evening BBQs!

What’s your favorite thing about summer?

loss and love {ryan’s necklace}

May 7th | blog friends, jewelry, what I'm wearing

Hello friends,
My heart is grieving along with so much of the blogging and online community. Jacqui who blogs at Baby Boy Bakery lost her little boy in a tragic accident  on Friday evening.  He ran out into the street to get a frisbee and was hit by a car. The response to their story has been nothing short of amazing. The outpouring of love and grief gives me hope. We’ve created a special necklace to celebrate Ryan’s precious life.

I’m linking up with Lindsey at the Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday.

This jumpsuit was on the clearance rack at TJ Maxx and the shoes are from Target.

Ryan’s necklace is a tiny heart is strung on sterling filled chain and tied with a little red string.

Ryan’s necklace is $36 and $5 from the sale of each necklace goes directly to the family. You can see more about Ryan’s necklace here. You can read Ryan’s story here. You can see pictures of the family here. Please join me in praying for Ryan’s parents.

Thank you for being part of a community that loves others and journeys with them in their grief. I am so thankful to be a part of this community!

hand-stamped jewelry care

May 1st | DIY, jewelry

Hello friends! I think this post might be overdue. I get a lot of questions about how to care for hand-stamped jewelry. I’ve got some easy tips to keep your jewelry looking brand new and absolutely beautiful!

1. Keep your jewelry organized. I’m not going to let you peek at my dressing area {hint, it’s a mess; organization is not my strength} but I try to keep my jewelry orderly so I can find things easily and keep them from tangling. If you can’t find it, you can’t wear it. I’m talking to myself right now!

2. Ziploc baggies are your friend. Especially with sterling jewelry, you’ll want to keep it away from air and dust if you aren’t wearing it regularly. Snack size ziploc baggies are a great way to store jewelry {one in each bag} to keep them from tangling and tarnishing.

3. The more you wear it, the better! Sterling will stay shiny if you wear it regularly. Same with pewter! Just polish sterling silver with a polish cloth and see details for fine pewter below.

4. Both pewter and sterling can be polished with triple zero steel wool. Don’t use a sterling polish cloth on pewter–it just smudges and dulls. Triple zero steel wool gentle buffs the metal to a soft shine. If the piece needs to be re-antiqued, color in the hand-stamped letters with a marks-a-lot marker and then polish with steel wool. We use chemicals in the workshop to antique, but marks-a-lot markers a great, non-toxic way to keep your jewelry looking brand new!

Color in the letters completely, then buff with triple zero steel wool.

Rings loose their antiquing faster than other pieces because hands get washed so much. I re-antique my rings every month or two.

You might already have a marker and steel wool at home, but if you don’t you can purchase a polish set here.

And if you just need a new chain, you can find one here.

And that’s how to keep your jewelry looking BEAUTIFUL! Have any questions? Leave them in the comments and I’ll answer them there.

stitch fix! yay!

April 30th | jewelry, stitch fix

My new stitch fix box arrived. There were some GEMS in this box! Including these boyfriend jeans and striped sweater. I love both! If you haven’t heard, stitch fix is a service, where you fill out a style profile and receive a box of 5 items {clothing/accessories} on your doorstep. You can try them on at home, keep what you like and send the rest back. I love being able to try things on with what I already have–to see if the pieces will work or not. This blog post is not sponsored but does contains affiliate links.

I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration!

How cute are these jeans? I’ve worn them for the last three days! So comfy!

I’m finding myself drawn to coral lately. It’s such a sweet color–not too pink, not too red, just right.

Basic booties, basic bag and I’m ready to go.

A slouchy sweater with a collared shirt seems like a nice in-between for casual and dressy.

You’ve seen the new monogram collection, right? It’s really struck a cord! We’re doing our very best to keep them in stock. Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Today is a good day to shop for mom, and you’ll have it time for Mother’s Day! Awesome!

Outfit details: Jeans, Sweater, both Stitch Fix. Coral collared top, Target. Booties, Target. Bag, Target. Monogram necklace, My shop.

Have you tried Stitch Fix? Love it, hate it? I’d like to hear your thoughts!

around the workshop {wildflowers necklace!}

March 11th | inspiration, jewelry

After I drop the boys at school and maybe run a quick errand, I’m at the workshop, dreaming, creating, connecting and planning. It’s bright space that’s half industrial, half inspirational. I don’t talk about it enough, but we have a fantastic team that makes things happen. They’re the ones that answer your phone calls, polish your jewelry, prepare packages to be shipping and make Lisa Leonard Designs run on a daily basis. I am humbled and grateful on a daily basis to work with this team.

Want to know something funny? I’m actually an introvert. I can be shy and sometimes I have to give myself a pep talk to jump in, get to know people and engage in larger group situations. In the workshop I can be quiet, but I’m trying to stretch myself and be more chatty and conversational.

For me, coffee is not optional. ;)

We store jewelry components in these large cabinets and I seriously love to go through the pieces, dream up different combinations and get creative.

This is where the customization happens. It’s a labor intensive process but the end result means YOU have YOUR special people close to your heart. And I love that.

Have you seen the new ‘my wildflower’s necklace? It’s about celebrating a love that grows wild and free. It speaks to my heart.

The backside of each tag is hand-stamped with your special name.

It’s surreal to have a team working behind the scenes. I remember working alone at my kitchen table in the early days-sometimes I have to pinch myself.
Today I’m down in LA with David, visiting the orthopedic hip/leg specialist at UCLA. Things continue to buzz in the workshop.

We’re thrilled to introduce the new wildflowers necklace! Don’t you love it? There will be many, probably hundreds of these created and shipping out this week. Incredible.

Which flower is your favorite?
