one little word {2013}

January 1st | jewelry

It’s 2013!

Can you believe it?

I love new beginnings. We’re teaming up with Ali Edwards again for her one little word project. This year’s necklace is sweet simple and totally classic.

I love it.

The necklace is available in both gold and silver and absolutely adorable! Click here to shop the new word of the year necklace.

My word this year is ‘inspired’. I want to clear space {literally} by cleaning out cupboards and drawers and clear space {figuratively} in my mind by keeping things simple. The more I plan ahead, the more things flow. And the more things flow, the more inspired I get.

And that is a good thing!

What is your word for 2013? Please share!

it’s not too late!

hello monday {boutique love: hands gallery}

December 10th | inspiration, jewelry, san luis obispo

Before they were ever carrying my jewelry, Hands Gallery in downtown San Luis Obispo was one of my very favorite shops. They carry so many beautiful, handmade things. It’s Monday friends! How about some hellos for a new week?

Hello mug. Which makes me think, hello coffee. Which makes me think, I love coffee.

Hello colorful kitchen stuff. I think I need to brighten up some of our old stand-bys.

Hello December 10th. I can’t comprehend how quickly Christmas is coming.

Hello shopping. I need to do more. Finish up and get stuff wrapped!

Hello chilly nights. I love layering on the blankets–don’t you?

Hello Christmas party! We are celebrating with our LLD team tomorrow night.

Hello play date at the park with scooters and sunshine.

Hello cleaning up our staircase. I throw all our junk on the stairs with the intention of taking it up with me–but right now I’m stepping around the mess and it’s probably a safety hazard!

Hello Morro Bay. I’m gonna try to talk my husband into a dinner out this week. By the sea side.

Hello VW. If I could have any car, I would choose a restored VW bus outfitted for camping. How fun would that be?

Hello to taking time to breathe. I need to catch my breath a little.

Hello smelling good. I love happy smells. On the flip side, I don’t like yucky smells. This is probably not breaking news, but it’s Monday morning and I need more coffee.

Hello picture taking. I want to capture the every day this week.

Hello pretty little things. When I see my jewelry in a different environment it always makes me smile.

Hello Hands Gallery. You are so inspiring!

Hello to a brand new week. It’s gonna be a great one!

red cross fundraiser {free necklace for you!}

November 9th | jewelry

Sweet friends, my heart has been so moved by the stories of loss and devastation in the wake of hurricane Sandy. I literally cannot stop getting teary-eyed every time I think about this story. David spent weeks in the NICU and so caring for tiny newborns is a subject very very close to my heart. These women are heroes. It’s such a beautiful thing.

Today through Sunday we are donating 10% of the proceeds from all sales to The Red Cross. And as a thank you, you get our limited edition love & shelter necklace FREE. It’s that fun?!

This necklace is FREE. Just enter code love&shelter at checkout.

Friends, will you please consider spreading the word on Facebook, twitter and your blog? You go shopping and we donate money. Together let’s help those who have been affected by hurricane Sandy.

how to: hammered bow necklace

October 26th | inspiration, jewelry

A few months ago, Michael’s Arts & Crafts store asked me to create a necklace to inspire their community. Of course, I was honored to help out! I took our popular, pretty like a bow necklace, and created a simpler, wire-wrapped version. I hope you love it! Scroll down to see the step by step pictures–and find directions at the end of the post!

Cut a length of 16 gauge wire at least 8 inches long {better to have it too long, than too short!}

Place your needle nose pliers about 2” from the end, and create a loop.

Move pliers over about 1.5” and create a second loop. Bring extra wire behind the two loops.

Wrap wire up and around between the two loops to create the center of the bow.

Trim ends of bow to the same length.

Hammer bow to flatten and make it look more like a ribbon.

File any rough edges until smooth.

Use 22 gauge wire and wrap a few small beads for artisan details and finish with chain. Attach hammered bow to beads with jump rings.

Now go grab some wire and get to work! Hop over to Michael’s blog to find more inspiring projects. Happy Friday, sweet friends! We are back in England and planning a trip to Brighton, a stop in London and some down time too. What do you have planned this weekend?
