hello market baskets and missing france

what I'm wearing By July 26, 2016 No Comments

We are fresh back from France and missing the lavender fields and amazing architecture. The more we travel, the smaller the world feels–and I love that!

This super easy, comfortable dress was on clearance for $10 at Target. It’s the type of thing I could wear everyday–with thee sandals for lunch with a friend or flip flops for dinner near the beach. Market baskets are very affordable in France–I think this one was $17. Smaller baskets are around $12. They are so adorable–and useful!

Is there somewhere in the world you would love to see? I’d love to visit Greece. I think that’s next on my wish list!

thrifting and furry footprints

jewelry, Louis and Beasley, what I'm wearing By June 14, 2016 2 Comments

Steve and I were in New York for meetings a couple weeks ago. We were walking through a charming neighborhood and we stumbled on St. Luke’s thrift store–which to me is like the happiest thing ever. They had some great things–lots of collectibles and some good clothing. It was a curated store–so a bit more expensive but a lot less hunting through junk. I found this vintage kimono and the leather bag.

We are introducing the adorable furry footprint tag and necklace today. Check it out!

fun and easy jumpsuit

what I'm wearing By June 1, 2016 4 Comments

I ran into Old Navy last week to get some t-shirts for the boys {they are both out-firing everything right now!}. I think Old Navy has cute clothes but in general I find that it doesn’t fit me quite right–so I don’t usually shop for me. But as I passed through the women’s section to get to the boys section, I spotted this adorable jumpsuit. No way. I was sure it wouldn’t fit right but I decided to try it on and guess what? I loved it! The price was reasonable so I decided to give it a try. I wore it to work last week and got several compliments. As I walked down the sidewalk approaching our shop, a man in a truck drove by and yelled out, ‘You look great! And great dogs!’ I’m not even joking! I started cracking up.

So there you have it. A jumpsuit that demands attention. jumpsuit lisa leonard-01 jumpsuit lisa leonard-02 jumpsuit lisa leonard-03 jumpsuit lisa leonard-04 jumpsuit lisa leonard-05 jumpsuit lisa leonard-06

crochet and clogs

what I'm wearing By May 24, 2016 5 Comments

I found this crocheted cardigan at Anthropologie last year on sale. I haven’t worn it much–but it’s so pretty. It’s a statement piece. To keep it from being too sweet I paired it with casual jeans and slip on easy clogs.

The swept away necklace is a simple piece but has impact. I have a stone set for each of my loves.

These jeans are super comfortable. They have a high waist that I love.crochet and clogs-03

Did you know Stitch Fix is carrying shoes now? I love these clogs! The color is neutral and the heel isn’t too high. crochet and clogs2-01

I found this bag at a resale shop downtown. It’s pretty much perfect and it was a steal {my favorite!}

these are not skinny jeans

what I'm wearing By April 27, 2016 8 Comments

I’ve gone out on a limb. It’s not a big thing–but sometimes small things can feel like a big change. Every pair of jeans in my closet is skinny jeans–well, I do have one pair of boyfriend jeans that are straight leg. But basically, I wear skinny jeans. I’ve been seeing more flare jeans around and I kind of like the look–I took a risk and purchased this pair from Madewell. It’s been fun to try something new. It feels good to break out of my comfort zone!

these are not skinny jeans! lisa leonard-01 These jeans are the first thing I’ve every purchased from Madewell. But I’m sure they won’t be the last–what an awesome store.

denim and lace

what I'm wearing By February 24, 2016 4 Comments

I found this kimono last summer at Plenty Boutique {one of my favorite shops!} but I never wore it. I think the lilac color threw me off–it’s not a color I usually wore. But it was too pretty to give away. We’re in the middle of a heat wave, so I decided to pair it my favorite jeans and boots and go for it. Sometimes it’s better not to overthink it, right?

my neighborhood, san luis obispo

san luis obispo, shops i love, what I'm wearing By February 10, 2016 3 Comments

We moved our shop onto Chorro Street in downtown San Luis Obispo. I’m standing our front in these pics. We are sandwiched between Eureka! Burger and Black Sheep Bar & Grill with an awesome Boba tea room called Sweetie Cup right across the street. It’s basically amazing. And there are so many adorable boutiques and delicious restaurants steps away. We are working on a plan to open the retail shop–it’s a big project in the midst of busy days. I’ll keep you updated as we progress!

on my street san luis obispo-02 I found this button up dress at Target and we both knew {the dress and I} that we would go home together. It’s a flowy versatile piece and I love it! Plus the price is unbelievable.

on my street san luis obispo-04 The slip dress is a thrift store find from years ago. I think I splurged and paid $10 for it. It’s definitely worth the investment.

on my street san luis obispo-05 And this sweet necklace holds so much meaning for me. I have a heart for each one of us in our little family of four. I am grateful.

on my street san luis obispo-06 These sandals are so comfortable. I got a second pair when they went on sale last year and tucked them away. They’re a warm weather favorite.

on my street san luis obispo-07 Have you seen these stackable ‘sweet love’ rings? Aren’t they sweet? Two for me and Steve and two for my boys.

Please excuse the sandals in February. We’re having a heat wave here in California. Today was 86*–insane. We’re soaking it up while praying for more rain!

the best jeans in the whole world

jewelry, Louis and Beasley, what I'm wearing By February 4, 2016 10 Comments

We stopped at Banana Republic the other day to get some jeans for Steve, and these super soft, broken-in jeans called to me. They remind me of hunting for vintage Levis in high school. We used to scour thrift shops for hours looking for the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans. A good pair of jeans are like a good friend. Or maybe like a security blanket. They’re comforting.

bursting heart lisa leonard-01I’ve also been counting my steps and they add up quickly when I take the dogs to work and we have stretch breaks during the day. My daily goal is 10,000, but when I’m in meetings all day, it’s so hard to get steps! Some days I can’t get more than 5,000 steps no matter how hard I try.

bursting heart lisa leonard-07 The bursting heart ring is making me all kinds of happy lately. And the large gemstone cuff goes with anything. I have the words ‘honesty + bravery’ stamped inside.

bursting heart lisa leonard-08I layer up every day because the mornings are super chilly. And sometimes the shop is chilly–it’s a brick building, so it stays cool.

hanging out with Louis & Bealsey

Louis and Beasley, what I'm wearing By January 29, 2016 11 Comments

I have good news! It’s Friday. Woohoo! For some reason, this week seemed to go on and on. We’ve had lots of holidays sprinkled in the last few weeks–but this was a full week at home. We need to get back in our rhythm, but it’s hard sometimes!

I’ve been taking Louis and Beasley, our new pugs to the workshop everyday. They are comfortable there and they love to be near us. And of course, I love having them with us all day. For the most part, they are very well behaved. I usually take them for a mid-day walk. I won’t tell you that Beasley pooped in the shop 2 seconds after we returned for our walk last week. It’s a learning process, right?!

the meaning behind the cross bar necklace-04We’ve had chilly mornings that warm to sunny afternoons and then get chilly again. Layering is the best thing when temps change so much!

the meaning behind the cross bar necklace-06Aw, those boys are so sweet!

the meaning behind the cross bar necklace-07We’ve been walking so much! The dogs are trimming down a bit and getting stronger. And it’s great for me too.

the meaning behind the cross bar necklace-01They want to walk and sniff and walk and sniff and walk and sniff. I say, “Less sniffing, more walking!”

the meaning behind the cross bar necklace-02I’m getting great use out of this backpack. It’s awesome when I have the dogs AND David. I love having my hands free.

the meaning behind the cross bar necklace-05The cross bar necklace is a fave. It means so much to me.

favorite shoulder bags for travel–this is the way to go!

what I'm wearing By December 1, 2015 3 Comments

A couple weeks ago we spent a few days in Boston. We had so much fun! We walked a ton, saw historical sites and ate great food. But as the trip went on, I began to despise my shoulder bag and how heavy it was. In the morning I packed a bag with food, diapers, snacks, camera, etc–to last the whole day. The heavy bag combined with having to lift/carry David throughout the day was tough. By afternoon, my back and shoulder ached. I began to think about the virtues of a backpack. So last week I invested in a backpack I can love for a long time. Hopefully, my shoulder and back will thank me! Plus with all the pockets and sections I can get super organized. Lately I’ve been using it every day. I’m sure I’ll still use my favorite shoulder bags sometimes, but for travel–this is the way to go.
