June 12th | what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing

It’s Wednesday and I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration!

Our kiddos have fun play structure in the backyard that they only use when friends come over to play. I think I should add a canvas cover and they can use it as a fort or hideout. But on this day, it was my backdrop for pics. If you don’t know, I set my camera on a tripod and use the timer to take these pics. It’s nerdy, but fun!

We’ve had some gorgeous weather but the mornings are still a bit chilly. That’s fine with me–it’s a perfect opportunity to layer on a scarf!

Colorful bracelets layered on falls under the category of ‘why not?!’ It’s fun and I love it.

Outfit details: Skirt, Old Navy {three years ago}. Shirt, thrifted {brand is Bass}. Heels, H&M. Scarf, Target. Saffron bracelet, my shop. Orange bangle, thrifted. Thank you, mom bracelet, my shop. Connected hearts bracelet, my shop.

We’re home from Poland and exhausted but happy. You can see sneak peeks from our adventures on instagram. I can’t wait to share more of the trip with you!

fun uses for clip on earrings

June 6th | DIY, inspiration, thrifting, what I'm wearing

While thrifting recently I’ve been drawn to clip on earrings. While I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them–I couldn’t resist the 25 cent price tag and the bright colors. I’ve been dreaming up a few ideas to share with you–so here goes!

The first on is clip on earrings turned colorful magnets…

Materials:

-pliers or snips

-magnets

-strong craft glue

-clip on earrings

Remove the backs of the earrings with pliers or snips. If the earrings are plastic the entire back will most likely come off. If the earrings are metal, just cut off as much as you can to make the back a flat surface.

Apply a little bit of glue and attach the earring!

A word of warning… when you are glueing the magnets on, make sure to keep them far away from each other, otherwise, if the glue isn’t dry, they may be attracted to each other.

Next idea is so simple but it really adds a ton of fun to an outfit–turn clip on earrings into shoe clips!

The right clip on was rubbing just a tiny bit against my foot so I put some moleskin over it to make it more comfortable. So fun, right?

And lastly–clip on earrings turned collar detail. I think this is a fun alternative instead of a necklace.

Buttoning the shirt all the way to the top gave it a fun, vintage feel.

Now I’m on the hunt for more vintage clip on earrings. I can’t wait to think of more creative ways to use them, how about you?

a pink polka dot dress

June 5th | what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing

It’s Wednesday and I’m linking up with Lindsey from The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

I found this pink, polka dot dress at a thrift store in Kansas {along with this one and this one–score!} I wore it to church last Sunday and I thought it was fun. But when I was editing the photos I didn’t feel like it was flattering like I’d hoped. I almost deleted all the photos, but then I remembered that I’m not perfect. I don’t have a perfect body. I get most frustrated with my tummy. I wish it was super flat–but there are three problems. The first two are my pregnancies and what they did to my body. {But I got two awesome kids out of that deal!} And the third problem is my love for cupcakes. Oh well!

I liked the dress and I felt pretty wearing it–so I want to share it with you. I want this to be a place where we can be imperfect and real!

I decided to pair the dress with a yellow belt and leopard print shoes, because, why not–right?

The dress is sheer, so I layered a full length slip underneath.

Dress, thrifted. Belt and Shoes, Target. Bag, Jo Totes. Nurture bracelet, my shop. Connected hearts bracelet, my shop.

We need to love ourselves and be more gentle to ourselves, don’t you think?

my favorite jeans

May 29th | what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing

Hey friends! It’s Wednesday and I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

You know the days when you want to stay in bed all day? Or if you go out you want to wrap a blankie around yourself and hide as much as possible. Am I the only one who feels that way sometimes? Well on days I feel like that I usually wear my favorite, super comfortable jeans–almost as good as having a blankie with me!

These jeans are Paige Denim–found for a fraction of the price at TJ Maxx. Love that. I didn’t go in for jeans but once I tried them on, I was hooked.

How about clip-on earrings added to my leopard heels for a little fun?

Outfit details: Jeans, Paige Denim via TJ Maxx. Top, thrifted. Belt, H&M. Leopard heels, Target. Shoe clips {thrifted clip on earrings}. Infinity Bracelet, Nurture Bracelet, Connected Heart Bracelet, all from my shop.

Do you have something cozy and comforting in your closet that you LOVE to wear?

betrayed by a jumpsuit

May 24th | thoughts, what I'm wearing

Let me tell you of a love story that ends in betrayal. It has nothing to do with that silly, smiley little boy and everything to do with that innocent looking jumpsuit!

No sooner had I sung the praises of jumpsuits {they’re so comfortable! perfect for travel! like wearing pajamas!} than I ended up in an airport bathroom stall exposing myself to the entire room. I checked and double checked the latch to make sure the door was latched–but as soon as I undressed {the whole thing has to come off basically} and sat down, someone went into the stall next to mine and as their door closed, it jiggled my door free. I couldn’t reach the door so I had to scoot as quickly as I could to get it closed again. Once I was alone again, I just started LAUGHING! It was a laugh or cry situation, if you know what I mean! I had been betrayed by my beloved jumpsuit and stabbed in the back by my fickle bathroom stall door. It was like they planned it and conspired against me.

Two hours later I ended up in the airplane bathroom {basically one square foot} with nowhere to hang my jean jacket except on top of my head and a floor that was so wet, I didn’t want my pants to touch it. Ugh! So I’m holding my jumpsuit off the ground and trying to balance my jacket on my head and maneuver in a tiny space. This jumpsuit–whoever thought they were a good idea?! Oh wait, me!

Moral of the story, while I love jumpsuits, I’m never wearing one for travel again. They simply can’t be trusted! I’ve learned my lesson!

a pretty dress and a sad story

May 22nd | what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing

Hey friends! I’m linking up with Lindsey from The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration! Today I’m sharing a gorgeous thrifted dress. But just to warn you–the end of the story is a little bit sad!

Chrissie {my twin sis} and I hit some amazing thrift stores in Kansas. We basically thrifted our way from Kansas City to Newton–and we had some seriously good luck. She found so many adorable treasures for the home and I focused on dresses.

When I saw it on the rack, I thought, this cream, wool dress looked like it might have potential. I loved the ruffled bottom and the detail around the neckline. I thought the lack of a waste line could go either way–so I tried on the dress and I loved it. Score!

At the craft house I washed in on a very delicate cycle and laid it out to dry. It came out perfectly.

But once I got home, I washed it again {on a delicate cycle} and it completely deteriorated. Maybe my washing machine isn’t delicate enough? One of the arms was hanging by a thread the the bottom of the dress was ruined–completely misshapen. I had to throw the dress away. There was no hope of saving it.

Outfit details: Cream dress, thrifted. Boots, Fossil. Gold swivel necklace, my shop. {I’ve got David on one side and Matthias on the other}

So cream, thrifted dress, although our time together was too short, it really was sweet.  I’m so glad I have a few photos to remember you by. The day we spent together was a very special one–mostly because I was with dear friends, but it’s always fun to wear a pretty dress. Goodbye, cream dress.

mixing patterns with a vintage dress

May 15th | thrifting, what I'm wearing

I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration!

I discovered this little gem of a dress tucked away in a thrift store in Newton, Kansas. I think it may have been waiting just for me. The $2 price tag meant she had to be mine.

I think happy girls are the prettiest, don’t you?

Photobomb by David! Nicely done.

Outfit details: Dress, thrifted, $2. Leopard print heels, Target. {I’m on my second pair–my first pair wore out! That’s how much I love them.} Belt, ever+mi crush. Gold connected hearts bracelet, my shop. Happy girls bag, Moxie Clothing. {swag from craft weekend}

This dress makes me want to sip tea in the sunshine while having a long chat over lunch with a dear friend. Doesn’t that sound perfect right now?

easiest outfit ever {hello monday}

A worn in denim top, flowy skirt, comfortable sandals and pink lip gloss makes for maybe the easiest outfit ever. And the perfect thing for a morning where I don’t have much brain power!

pop star style {oh yeah!}

May 9th | thrifting, what I'm wearing

I found this gold, sparkly top at a thrift store in Kansas. It’s really, super duper sparkly. Like so sparkly that I could see it reflecting off nearby walls as I walked. It’s hard to blend in when you’re wearing a top like this. And everywhere I went it was the topic of conversation. Can I just tell you I had some very funny conversations?

{Outfit details: Top, thrifted. Jeans, AG, thrifted. Leopard heels, Target. Belt, H&M. Large cuff, thrifted. Saffron bracelet, My shop.}

Matthias {my 9 year old} asked me if I was ‘trying to be a pop star’, Um, well, sure! Why not?! This top might be my ticket to being discovered. ;)

A dress for one dollar

May 8th | jewelry, what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing

Hey friends! I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration. I am home from Kansas and kind of wiped out! I had some amazing luck with thrifting while I was there. I think I brought home 10 different dresses–and today I’m sharing the first one with you!

I found this dress for $2 and it was on sale for half off. I mean, I would have paid two dollars for it, but one is even better! And stripes? Be still my heart.

My plane landed at 12:30am and I got out of bed at 6am–so I was tiiired. Thankfully I had already washed this dress, I added a belt and easy heels and BAM! I’m put together. No brain power required. Perfect.

This necklace is easy, adorable and it’s on sale. Hurry and grab one!!

Stacked bracelets make a happy, clink-y noise. I love that.

 Outfit details: Dress, thrifted {$1}. Belt, Target {old}. Heels, H&M. Sun droplet necklace, My shop. Nurture bracelet, My shop. Charm bracelet, My shop.

This week I bought a pack of gum for $1, a bottle of water for $1.50, paid $2 in parking fees and bought a dress for $1. Awesome, right?
