new dress, new boots, new year

January 7th | what I'm wearing

Hi there! It’s our first week getting back into the routine. We’ve taken down the Christmas decor. We’re on day three of cutting out sugar. I’m trying to purge the house and simplify. Feels good! Today I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

This dress was a Christmas gift from my mother-in-law. She took me to Anthropolgie and I picked out a couple things. She’s awesome like that!

I’ve been looking for gray boots and these fit the bill.

And I’ve got my trusty denim jacket and bag. I’m not sure the boots and bag go together but oh well!

This dress is so comfortable! I could wear it every day!

This ring and cuff have been on me every day lately. So simple and beautiful.

I think gray is easier to wear than black–it’s just a little more mellow. And the natural heel is so pretty!

My cuff says ‘protect. nurture. love’. A sweet sentiment, not only as a mama to my boys, but also a reminder to protect, nurture and love myself.

Outfit details: Dress, Anthropologie. Boots, Rebels via Zappos. Bag, H&M. Denim jacket, Gap. Ring, My shop. Thin sterling cuff, My shop.

Do you have a favorite dress that you love to wear?

you’re not pretty enough

December 31st | what I'm wearing

Oh, friends.
It’s been a bit of rough week emotionally. Nothing huge going wrong but I feel discouraged. I’m tired, irritated and I feel like a failure.

I went to take pictures of my outfit on Sunday and heard the voice in my head telling me, “You’re not pretty enough.”. It also tells me, “You’re not a good mom. You’re disorganized. You always screw up.” It’s exhausting. and it’s all lies.

It’s easy to want to combat those lies for each other with messages like, “You’re so pretty!” or “You’re a great mom!”. But the those don’t really get to the heart of the matter either. The bottom line is–those things don’t determine my value. It doesn’t matter how pretty I am or how much I weigh. Even if I’m grumpy and mean and short-tempered with my kids. These things don’t determine my value. It’s my heart, uniquely created to be mine, that makes me ME and makes me lovable.

And it’s your heart that makes you YOU.

Let’s love each other and give each other grace today. Even when I’m smiling on the outside, I might be hurting on the inside. I hope I’m not the only one who feels that way sometimes.

It’s Wednesday and I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration. And hoping together we can find even deeper inspiration and hope today.

Outfit details: Jeans, Big Star via Zappos. Olive green tee, Target. Sweater jacket, Anthropologie. Nude heels, Target. Bag, H&M. Cuff, My shop. Earrings, My shop.

Happy New Year’s Eve, friends! I am sending you love today. Tomorrow begins a brand new year. A chance to love each other {an ourselves} in a more whole way. And that is a beautiful thing!

shopping my closet

December 24th | what I'm wearing

I was feeling like I wanted to wear something different–so I started digging deeper into my closet and found this dress. It was tucked behind something else and had been forgotten for a while. I’ve had it a couple years–in fact, I wore it a few years ago {styled completely differently} in this post. And my hair was so RED! Anyway, it’s Wednesday and I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

This dress is surprisingly versatile. The color works well with lots of other colors.

And the fit is flattering, too. I should wear it more often.

The denim jacket and dress have been in my closet for years. The scarf and shoes are new this season. And the clutch was a Christmas gift from a dear friend {thanks Sarah!}

The turquoise cuff is a thrift find.

This clutch is just big enough for a cell phone, lipstick, drivers license and cash.

I love a low heel for the workshop or church, so comfortable and feminine.

And the thin sterling cuff is such a pretty basic. It’s from my shop.

Outfit details: Dress, Anthropologie. Denim jacket, Old Navy. Scarf, Stitch fix. Heels, Target. Turquoise cuff, thrifted. Sterling cuff, My shop. Clutch, gift from a friend {Anthropologie}

Happy Christmas Eve, sweet friends. I hope you are doing something cozy and fun.

rainy day gear

December 17th | what I'm wearing

It’s sooo rainy here! And friends, it’s been so dry for the last year. We are thankful to see the ground soaked and the hills green! I’m pulling out my rain gear and loving the gray days. I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

This cutie wanted in on the pic. Fine with me! Love him.

Outfit details: Jeans, AG {similar}, black tee, Target. Scarf, Target. Olive green jacket, Stitch Fix. Booties, Sam Edelman.

cranberry and stripes

December 10th | stitch fix, what I'm wearing

We are in full Christmas CRAZY over here. Which means we’re working hard, having fun and we’re a little bit sleep deprived. I overslept this morning and then tried to put something fun and slightly Christmas-y together to wear. I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

I’ve been really into cranberry this season. It’s more subtle than red and adds some fun.

A scarf is perfect for chilly mornings {when I say chilly I mean 50*–it really hasn’t been very cold here}.

Hair pulled back because, I overslept. Add some red lipstick and hopefully I look decently pulled together!

These are my favorite earrings and the cuff is thrifted.

Outfit details: Coated jeans, Banana Republic, similar from at Target. Striped top, Stitch Fix. Scarf, Stitch Fix. Cranberry heels {ON SALE}, Target. Black bag, Target. Earrings, My shop. Cuff, Thrifted.

Have you heard of Stitch Fix? It’s super fun. Click here for more details.

what i wore {thanksgiving edition}

November 26th | what I'm wearing

Hello friends! We are with family for Thanksgiving and it’s wonderful to soak up my nieces and nephews! I’m linking up with Lindsey at the Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

This dress has become a real go-to. It’s super slowly and comfortable, with a boho feel. Love it.

This faux green leather jacket was a thrift store find and I wear it a lot. Love when that happens!

So many new bracelets in the shop! Have you seen this one? Oh my! I love it for layering!!

These are my every day boots. Seriously every. day. I’m starting to get to the point where I’m worried they’re gonna wear out.

And of course a big ‘ol bag to hold all my important stuff.

Here are the details: Dress, local boutique {similar}. Boots, Frye via zappos. Faux leather jacket, thrifted {similar}. Leather bag, H&M, {similar}. Bracelets, My shop.

What are YOU doing for Thanksgiving?

i heart bracelets

November 19th | jewelry, what I'm wearing

I can’t get enough of bracelets lately. Stacking and mixing them is so fun. I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration!

I snagged these camo pants at Target last week. They were set on a rack in the wrong section–but they were my size and I bought them without trying them on. {I mean, I could always return them to Target the next day since I’m there every.single.day}. But they fit great and I love them!

And of course my denim jacket is like a security blanket. Love it.

Heels make it look just a bit dressed up and more put together.

Hair pulled back likely means 1. I’m having a bad hair day or 2. I haven’t washed my hair in a couple days. But hey, it works!

These earrings are pretty much on me every day. And stacking bracelets is just FUN!!

Outfit details: Camo pants, Target. Black tee, Gap. Denim Jacket, Gap. Black heels, ON SALE Target. Earrings, My shop {LOVE!!} Bracelets, ON SALE My shop.

Bracelets are ON SALE today! Take 20% off with code ‘braceletlove’. Perfect for stacking and gift giving! Click here to shop!

a perfect sweater

November 12th | what I'm wearing

You know what I love even more than a good sweater, sweater weather AND a good sweater! This is a pretty sweet sweater and we’ve been having gloomy, chilly weather which is making me all kind of happy. It’s Wednesday and I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

So I went to the doctor yesterday and I’ve gained 9 pounds. I started working out a couple months ago and she said it’s probably just muscle gain {she’s so sweet ;) } I think I need to cut back on carbs a bit. I can tell I’ve gained a few pounds but mostly, I feel really great. It’s real life, right?

This sweater is so soft. And the polka dot button up underneath was a thrift store find. I cut off the sleeves because when I layer sweaters over tops, I feel like I’m suffocating. So cutting on the sleeves makes me feel more comfortable–and since it was a thrift find, I didn’t feel bad at all!

These jeans and boots are just. so. easy. They’re my go-to-everyday-pieces.

And of course a good bag to hold lots of crap, I mean, important stuff.

Outfit details: Sweater, Old Navy {on SALE here} Jeans, Big Star via Zappos. {similar here}. Boots, Frye via Zappos. Polka dot top, thrifted. Bag, H&M {similar here}. Bracelets, My shop.

stuck in a rut

November 5th | what I'm wearing

Hey friends! I have been in a major rut lately. I’ve just been wearing what I love–not much creativity with getting dressed. But I’m wearing the stuff I love–so maybe this rut’s not so bad. I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration!

I’ve been wearing these jeans almost every day. And these booties too. So comfortable and so easy. Then I grab a top and call it an outfit.

The fur vest breaks the mold a bit and adds some fun.

Plus the mornings have been chilly but by noon it’s pretty warm. I am ready for some cold, wet weather! We’ve been joking that I’m protesting the warm weather by wearing boots and fur.

There’s nothing wrong with ‘go-to’ pieces. Why over-complicate?

So lately I’m just wearing my favorite pieces and adding interest with:
*red lipstick
*great earrings
*a fun scarf or vest

Outfit details: Jeans, Zappos {similar}. Boots, Frye via Zappos {love!}. Peasant top, Lucky Brand {similar}. Fur vest, Target. Bag, H&M {similar}. Earrings, My shop {LOVE these!}

stacked up bracelets {love!}

October 29th | what I'm wearing

I’m on day four of not washing my hair, which honestly is so not like me! I used to wash my hair every single day and blow dry it–lately I can hardly be bothered. I have dry hair and I throw it up in messy bun and it’s easy. Add earrings and I look look put together. Awesome.

It’s Wednesday and I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

Remember this dress? I wore it here. It’s from a local boutique called Plenty in Santa Ynez {one of my favorite shops}. If you’re passing through wine country I recommend stopping!

I layered the dress with my fur vest from Target and it was easy and cozy. The mornings are cool and the afternoons are sunny–so I don’t need tights yet.

And stacking up bracelets makes it kind of funky and adds interest.

All bracelets are 25% off today–mix, match and stack. Click here to see them all!

Outfit details: Black dress, Plenty boutique. Fur vest, Target. Boots, Frye via Zappos. Leather bag, H&M {similar}. Earrings, My shop. Bracelets, My shop.
