i was at my local target last week when i spotted these flats. At $14.99 a pair, i grabbed both black and brown. After I got home, I decided to spice them up just a little bit.
I used olive green velvet ribbon and some small jewels from our local craft store to give the black pair a little personality. A quick dry adhesive worked perfectly. Just make sure to keep any embellishments above the crease when toes are flexed–this will help ensure they stay put.
I think they were cute before–but makes them a bit more unique.
For the brown pair, I added a bit of burlap and a brown velvet bow.
Still casual–with just a little more personality. And the price was just right! Are you working on any fun projects right now?

ADORABLE! I have a pair of plain black ballet flats that just might get a little special treatment after seeing this post!
Love these. Especially the brown ones!
you are SO creative! love them!
That;s super idea!!
cute to be fixed up on shoes!!
Shoe jewelry. So adorable!
Love love those brown ones! What a fun idea!
These are genius!!! My girlfriends and I are working on the blog famous “Family Rules” project. It’s coming slowly but surely as conversation gets in the way of progress. But when they’re all done, I’ll share in a post for What I Made Wednesday!!!!
these are both so cute. I have two pairs of vintage pumps that I thrifted this idea would perk them up a bit!
What a great idea Lisa! I just saw these at Target too and now I just might have to go back and buy them and make them cuter too! Thanks for the ideas!
So cute! What a great idea!
I tried these on and they felt a little plain. I may have to go back and snag some. Love this idea.
Thanks for the fashion and hair inspiration. i am a curly girl too and although your hair routine didn’t completely work for me I did get the product and I use a TINY bit of the mousse and the hairspray is THE BEST. Love it and love that it is cheap. Thanks again.
Too cute! I love embellished anything, but these shoes are to die for adorable.
Right now I’m trying to start working on Christmas gifts – either chunky knit scarves or pom pom fabric necklaces.
Okay, you are officially amazing! Not that you weren’t before, mind you.
CUTE! I especially LOVE the brown ones and plan to get myself a pair or two.
LOVE them! so creative!
Love this! No joke that I bought a pair of the brown flats & ended up returning them because they were just a little too, ordinary. Go figure. No I think I need another pair, or two!
love!!!!!
So darn CUTE! Great work
How cute…I especially like the brown ones too…but I laughed as I read your words of caution…about where to place the embellishments so they saty put….somehow, somehow I just know I would glue them on and halfway through the day lose one somewhere…haha I know my limits….even on a cute simple project like this!
So cute. I might have to try that out!
Darling, darling, darling idea!
Love love love this…I just had to pin it for later.
Those are super cute – now I need to run to Target and Michael’s so I can make a taupe pair – those will be great for the fall season!!!
I love your darling ideas! WIWW is my absolute fav!!
I’m a bit slow in the crafty-arena; what’s a dry adhesive? These are awesome! I want them with just a bow and must get started!
quick dry–it’s a strong hold glue that dries quickly. xo
Those are so cute Lisa! I love that one could make them however they want. Thanks for the inspiration!
ohhh, i love <3 the tan ones!! too cute!
the only thing better is to get them on sale!! i got sequin converse for $8 and then added a chiffon bow for shoe laces. I loved your post today because I am currently wearing them to help me get through my day today.
Absolutely beautiful, Lisa! I adore the brown ones!
Super cute! I especially love what you did with the brown ones…..might have to copy you on that one
Oh what a clever idea! I love it!
