heart-shaped cinnamon rolls

i saw these heart-shaped cinnamon rolls over at be different act normal and i was smitten!

instead of making my own, i just popped open a package from trader joes. i used their jumbo cinnamon rolls. they are seriously tasty. please excuse my cookie sheet. it’s been through a lot!

i unrolled one side until it was the same size as the inside roll and created a point at the bottom of the heart. reshaping the cinnamon rolls took about 2 minutes.

i love a super fast, super sweet project.

we are a big let’s-make-breakfast family. i make pancakes a couple times a week and usually cinnamon rolls and eggs at least once a week.

what’s your favorite family breakfast?

  2. SO CUTE!!! I love hearts and breakfast foods! My faves are waffles or pancakes (whole grain, of course) 🙂 with real maple syrup! Yum! I love to have breakfast for supper too ♥

  3. Saturday mornings are our family breakfast day, and it’s my favorite meal, no matter what we make. Usually it’s pancakes, but my personal favorite is french toast. Any kind of eggs (including omelets) are good too.

LOVE your heart-shaped cinnamon rolls! I must try that.

  4. french toast made with homemade bread (in general, most of the slices are unevenly cut) topped with Jammin’ John’s Jellies (apricot is my favorite)…
ps – John (husband extra-ordinaire) makes the bread (no bread machine) & jam – buys his fruit locally at Okui’s Strawberry Stand, Avila Barn and the Arroyo Grande Farmer’s Market (Saturday)…
    i’m so lucky!!!

  5. Oh my, we are definitely a breakfast family … even for dinner! Scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, fresh fruit, and oatmeal banana pancakes drizzled with honey!
    Love those heart-shaped cinnamon rolls!

  6. Hi Lisa,

Definately eggs and cinnamon rolls! I get the TJs cin rolls too – YUM! If you like a ricker/thicker frosting – try adding some whipped cream cheese to the frosting they give you. Squeeze out the frosting in a bowl; add about a tablespoon or so of cream cheese and stir – its so yummy and then you will have MORE frosting to slather on your cinnamon rolls!!

  7. When time is not a problem…I like crispy, buttery pancakes and maple syrup. My usual breakfast these days is a scrambled egg and cheese sandwich…it holds me for the 5 hours I work…sometimes over crazy hrs…like 9:30-2:30 or 11-4…(crazy in that I have to eat breakfast/lunch earlier than I’d like…and lunch/dinner later than I normally would ) The cinnamon rolls look tasty! (I eat them when I think I need a treat 🙂 )

  8. I love texas french toast with brown sugar on top. I make that as a treat on the weekends. It is so yummy!

  9. Lisa, these are so cute! Made my day! We are huge breakfast peeps here ( except my hubby). We love buttermilk pancakes with chocolate chunks or fresh blueberries, and when we get in a south of the border mood: scrambled eggs with Trader Joes soy chorizo and green onions, served on TJ’s handmmade tortillas (brown carefully over open stove flame till just a bit charred) and serve with salsa and cilantro. Ay yay yay!! ;-D

  10. those look seriously delish! food is always better when it’s in a fun shape! every sunday hubby gets up and makes chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, and bacon. it’s his big “ta-da” for the weekend and the kids love it!

  11. I love that you make real food for breakfast. I think that it is REALLY important for everyone to eat a good breakfast and it starts your kids on a good trend for life!

  12. Love this idea! We are big weekend breakfast eaters. Our favorite is homemade waffles, scrambled eggs, and crispy bacon or homemade cinnamon French toast and sausage! Ok, I’m hungry now!!

  13. What a sweet, simple idea. I should try things like this for my girls more often. I will make these this weekend – I have a sleeve of refrigerated cinnamon rolls in the fridge right now. thank you so much for sharing these ideas. and Julie – would love to try your recipe for cream cheese danish – we love danish at my house! : )

  14. Yummy! (and those cookie sheets are the best…even though they look gross, they give whatever is baked on them flavor!)

  15. What a great idea! I am definitely going to try them.
Homemade Cream Cheese Danish’s are my boys’ favorite. (they love them with raspberries too.)

  16. LOVE IT! I’m gonna have to try that.

Lately for us its home-made fluffy pancakes. I got the recipe from the cake boss who has a new cooking show…i think its called kitchen boss.
…and then sausages on the side, served with OJ.

  17. I make cinnamon rolls every Sunday morning. It’s our family tradition. I can’t wait to shape them this week. My little ones will be so excited! Thanks for the inspiration {as usual!}

  18. We are having Mountain Mama tonight – my version of the camping classic called Mountain Man. I throw everything in with eggs: hashbrown potatoes, sausage, onions, cheese, maybe a little green onion tops, bell pepper, bacon…..and serve it up with biscuits and OJ. That’s what we are having for dinner tonight! I will have to make those heart rolls – so cute.

  19. My mom used to make these for me & my brother on our birthdays when we were kids!

We usually do a lot of pancakes and scrambled eggs {easy for a toddler to eat}, but my favorite {guilty-pleasure} breakfast is Sunday morning donuts after church!

  20. Those look delicious, our kids aren’t keen on cinnamon….but that could be to my advantage – more for me!

They would love a variation of them – apple or chocolate or maybe jam 🙂

  21. We both work full time outside of the home, so week days typically it’s just “grab a pop tart on your way out the door” kind of thing.

But, my fave…..is supper time. When we decide to have breakfast for supper. DH is super sweet about coming in and helping me cook that meal. 😉 Eggs, bacon, toast, grits.

On Sundays, I always make muffins or cinnamon rolls. I just bought some cinnamon rolls at Aldi, so I’ll try to get up a little early on Sunday morning and make hearts with them 🙂

  22. Oh…I usually eat oatmeal with almond butter and a drizzle of maple syrup…but I love to whip up an egg and veggie frittata with a slice of toasted rustic bread.
    Yum.
    Hugs.

    Happy Day Sweet Lisa.

  24. These are adorable! Our favorite weekend breakfast is cinnamon rolls. I made up a big batch at Christmas time and freeze them. I use Pioneer Woman’s recipe, but next time, I might just have to make them heart-shaped 🙂

  25. Cheesy hashbrowns & sausage are my hubby’s favorite! We also love my bacon/cheddar waffles!

Those cinnamon rolls are adorable. I’ll definitely be trying that sometime! 🙂

  26. Oh those look yummy!!! I have to do those for my boys 🙂 And no worries, every well loved kitchen has a cookie sheet like that!

Weekends have always been ‘daddy’ making breakfast. Pancakes w/choc chips is a fave around here.
    xoxo
