my fave thrift store

my fave thrift store {hospice partners} is doing a super creative fundraiser right now. they had various artists create one-of-a-kind birdhouses. each birdhouse is topped with an old book. each artist used their own creativity and various materials to make a themed birdhouse that is sweet and unique.

so fun, right? if you’re local–go check the hospice partners thrift store at 445 higuera street, san luis obispo.

it’s the weekend. big sigh. we’ve got a birthday party today and sunshine. so maybe a trip to the beach or dinner out? what does your weekend have in store for you?

  1. Ha ha, I knew I recognized those bird houses. I was poking around on Pinterest for birdhouses and saw a pic of some that looked familiar. I live in SLO and frequent the very same thrift store. In fact I was there not an hour ago. Haven’t lived here long…so much to discover. Love your jewelry by the way. So cool.

  2. hi Lisa,
just wanted to let you know that all those “artists” that created the birdhouses were our staff and volunteers! The men made the birhouses out of recycled wood scraps and the ladies took them home and decorated them with recycled things around the house.
We had a ball with this project!

  3. I’ve been puttering around the house…it feels like the begining of spring cleaning, even though we got 5″ of snow here yesterday. Hubby just took the kids ice fishing, probably for the last time this year and I’m off to my sewing room to create some artwork for a fundraising raffle. But first, I have to go put a roast in the oven. Better get off this computer and go get some things done!

  4. Weekend is over and it was so amazing. I met with some of my friends who I haven’t seen for ages. It was very nice and we had so much fun and plenty of things to catch up on. Even the weather was nice. Little bit of sun makes my mood rise instantly.

  5. Hi Lisa, I love these birdhouses – what a cool idea using an old book for the roof. Yesterday (Saturday here in NZ) I spent 2.5 hours trying out various classes at a local small very basic (and lovely) gym. Then I spread compost in the garden in the afternoon. Today I am sore in almost every muscle (giggle, no wonder) and I am tired as didn’t sleep very well so not sure what today will bring. Pressure from hubby for me to do SOMETHING, so we shall see… hMMMMMM

  6. Oh, and it’s a lazy day. I’m doing dishes and cleaning up my living room (as always – too much clutter), working on my homework from Indie Business and then Dan is packing to go away for a week (BOO!). Maybe we’ll head to the beach, too. It’s a nice, warm day today in Redondo Beach. 🙂

  7. I went to the Hospice thrift store when I was in SLO at Christmas and found a couple of cute treasures. It’s a great place and the money goes for a great cause. I’ll most likely check it out everytime I come up now.

  8. Tomorrow we will have a kids party (“Faschingsparty”). The kids put on their costumes and we are all eating “Faschingskrapfen”. Think it will be great fun. Happy weekend!
