let’s have an adventure

Every Saturday, Steve and I say, “let’s have an adventure!”. And every Saturday, Matthias begs to stay in jammies all day and play video games. Too bad–there’s a big beautiful world out there waiting to be discovered, right? So to compromise, we have very mellow mornings with pancakes and screens and then we head out around noon for an adventure.

Last Saturday, we went to Morro Bay for mexican food, a walk along the embarcadero and ice cream. It was a gorgeous day–and even Matthias had fun! 😉

The shell shop in Morro Bay is awesome–and filled with all kinds of creatures and textures. You must visit if you’re in the area!

The weather was glorious.

There was a man named, Willow, playing guitar, so we took David over to listen. He lit up! So Willow handed him his pick and I helped him strum. Willow made up a song about David exploring on a Saturday. It was such a sweet, beautiful moment. I’ll never forget it!

What’s your favorite thing to do on a Saturday?

  1. I grew up in the LA area so Morro Bay was a place our family frequented. It is so beautiful and fun! I’m happy that you are teaching your children to be adventurous! What a wonderful gift you are giving them! Glad you enjoyed your day!

  2. We also love to having weekend “adventures” which for us means going on a hike in the local state park or nearby arboretums. Sometimes it’s hard to get our three little boys out the door but we all always feel better after some fresh air, tree climbing, and exploring. Then lunch at Pei Wei or Fish Grill before we make it home for the all-important afternoon naps! 🙂

  3. I like to spend saturdays with my husband. He works so hard during the week and comes home pretty tiered each night, its hard to have time together so saturdays are our time to be together!

  4. Looks like you all had a fun day out, Doesn’t get any better than Fish & Chips, Our nations favourite! It’s nice to just have that one day to forget about the manic lifestyles we all have and just enjoy that quality time. Unfortunately over here in the UK we seem to have a rain cloud constantly over us but we do try to get out on Sunday’s for a little adventure somewhere.
