hellos and goodbyes {camping}

Hello friends! This week is our last week of summer. A week from today, school begins! And I have all kinds of mixed emotions about that–but I think we’re almost ready.

Today I’m sharing hellos and a few goodbyes. Hello new school year, goodbye lazy/crazy summer days. These pics are from a camping trip we took at the beginning of summer. We had so much fun, I but I was in a really hard place too–and the camera doesn’t capture that. I was feeling very overwhelmed and broken and just plain exhausted. It was so good to be with friends who know us and love us and have room for the hurt and pain that sometimes goes along with raising a child with special needs. How about some hellos {and good-byes!}

***Hello Monday is where I greet the new week with an open heart and a fresh perspective. It’s a new beginning–and there’s so much to be thankful for! Join me by leaving your own hellos in the comments section or linking up a hello monday post there!***

Hello friends we’ve had since high school. Well, Steve has been friends with them since high school. I was grandfathered in via marriage. And I’m so glad! This group of friends has become a rock for us.

Hello playing music. Steve has been practicing guitar all summer and he sounds great. I love it when he plays!

Hello wildflowers. Beautiful.

Hello splashing in the waves. Hello digging holes. Hello laying in the sunshine.

Hello growing up together. These kids will remember camping together every summer–and that makes me so happy.

Hello buying food for school lunches and folders.

Hello getting to bed on time. Good-bye late summer nights.

Hello getting up early. Good-bye sleeping in {sniff}.

Hello more pics to edit and more adventures to share with you.

Hello Fall! Good-bye summer. You went so fast.

Hello planning a special back to school breakfast.

Hello getting the house clean and getting the laundry caught up {ha!}

Hello menu planning. Good-bye sugar. I ate too much over the summer!

Hello haircuts and trimming fingernails.

Hello turning FORTY tomorrow. Oh my!

Hello 5th grader and 7th grader. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!

Hello Monday! It’s a brand new week with beauty waiting to be found. What are you saying hello to this week? Leave some hellos in the comments section or link up your own hello monday post there!!

  4. Happy early Birthday, Lisa! I hope you get pampered and spoiled because you, mama, deserve it!! Thanks for sharing your sweet camping pictures with us and for telling us what was going on behind the camera. Behind my lense this summer has been a lot of trying times with my husband, since we’re being honest. Today I’m saying hello to the last week before our teacher meetings start – it all went by too fast! xoxo

  5. Lisa! Happy birthday, friend! You kinda just slipped that in there at the end, but that’s a BIG deal! I’m feeling the mixed back-to-school emotions here too. I’m honestly thankful for a break from 24/7 mom duty but I want the free-spirit of summer. Can’t be please I guess. 😉

    I’m saying hello to a fabulous birthday/anniversary trip to Charleston, getting ready for school (like having birth certificates expedited) and facing my intense anxiety about dr/dentist appts for my kids…aaaah! http://happylittlelovelies.com/2014/08/18/hello-monday-4/

  6. Happy, happy birthday to you, lovely Lisa!! (a day early)

    That lizard is a terrifying looking thing. Do you know what kind it is?

    I love annual trip traditions. We had family friends like that growing up and I’m so grateful for my “pseudo-mom” and “almost-brothers”. Friends like that are such a blessing.
