I am Club Watermelon too! We can do lots of the other stuff year-round (ok, frozen strawberries aren’t as good as the real thing!) but there is nothing like watermelon from the Farmer’s Market!

my fave summer food is a homemade hamburger made by my husband. the meat is straight from his grandpa’s farm and I can’t even tell you what’s in the recipie because even after 5 years its still his secret. all I know is they are almost too big to get a bite in your mouth and are full of amazing taste. and when I was pregnant with our first son last summer I unfortunately couldn’t eat meat without getting sick so I had to miss out on an entire summer of yummy…but now I’m excited to say that this summer we have our baby boy and I am back to loving grilling season! priceless!

Peaches! I’m pretty sure I could eat my weight in this sweet, juicy fruit during the summer! In fact, I bought a bunch at a farmer’s market this weekend.
Ingredients are available year round…but i only eat this easy salsa in the summer.
2 cans of seasoned diced tomatoes, can of shoepeg corn, can of drained black beans, 8 oz bottle of Italian dressing. Serve w/ tortilla chips.
Sounds yummy! I’m gonna have to try it.

I eat them all year long, but for some reason it seems like chips and salsa become a staple in my diet during the summer. Trader Joes has great regular salsa but it’s always fun to mix it up with Mango Salsa!! Yuuummm! Also a squirt of lime on the chips just gives it that extra little ‘umph’, making it complete. Taco’s de Mexico in Morro Bay or La Casitas in Los Osos both help me get my fix.

My favorite summer drink is iced tea…unsweetned all the way! I love a cold class with ice! No sugar, no lemon.
My favorite summer treat is lemonade stand pie! Just delicious and so refreshing!
And I can’t tell you all that with out leaving the recipe:
What You Need
1/2 cup cold water
1/3 cup COUNTRY TIME Lemonade Flavor Drink Mix
2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed
1 HONEY MAID Graham Pie Crust (6 oz.)
Make It
ADD water to drink mix in large bowl; stir until mix is dissolved. Add ice cream. Beat with mixer until well blended. Whisk in COOL WHIP. Freeze, if necessary, until mixture is thick enough to mound.
SPOON into crust.
FREEZE 4 hours or until firm. Remove from freezer 15 min. before serving. Let stand at room temperature until pie can easily be cut.

mmmm…we love homemade ice cream around here. I scored a Cuisinart ice cream maker at a neighbor’s yard sale last year and made so many different flavors. It saves alot of money too when you make your own(something we’re big on around here):)

My all time summer favorite is fresh squeezed lemonade with raspberries, blueberries and strawberries floating around. I freeze the strawberries and blueberries, but the raspberries go in straight from the bush in my gram’s backyard. Mmmm!

Homemade ice cream in an old fashion crank ice cream maker. I remember all the kids taking turns sitting on it and cranking the handle. Then when it was done, lifting the beaters out and seeing all that cream,eggs, vanilla etc. turned into delicious ice cream. My favorite was when a little bit of salt got in it. YUM!

It’s a tough choice between ice cream & corn on the cob, but since I eat ice cream all year round, I’d have to say corn on the cob.

(We call them snowballs in New Orleans, where I live but I think they are snow cones everywhere else…but you get the idea!). Strawberry with condensed milk…mmmmmmmmmmm. I just love ice cream sandwich “lasagna”! It is just like a lasagna but a dessert with yummy layers of ice cream sandwiches, whipped cream, chopped snickers bars, gooey caramel and chocolate toppings, and crushed oreos on the top. Pop in the freezer and in a few hours-pure yumminess!

Blackberry cobbler is my favorite, we live off an alley where we can pick perfect blackberries in August, then come straight home and bake the cobbler…..oooh, I can’t wait!

I would have to say I love Corn on the Cobb the best in the summer, or maybe Watermelon, they are about even I would say. Although Pasta and Potato Salad are yummy too. Oh wait what about popcycles! Almost forgot about them:)

Hi I love pavlova with fresh cream and layers of strawberries. Just yum. You haven’t tasted devine until you have had pavlova smothered in strawberries.
