all stuffed up.

so david woke up with a major boogie nose this morning. my heart sunk, not because i was worried about him, but because i am so selfish! a sick kiddo means my schedule is out the window (i am a TOTAL planner, so this is difficult for me). it means lots of breathing treatments and decongestant. time spent snuggling when i might rather be more productive (i know, it’s time well spent, but sometimes it doesn’t feel productive…). this morning he had some medicine and breathing treatments (and a bath to get him all nice and clean) and he perked up and wanted to play. but we still need to take it easy and let him get lots of rest. these colds are much harder for him to kick than for most kids. so i need to get into slow-down-and-stay-home mode. i’ll put on my big, comfy sweatshirt and get ready to take it easy. i’ll make lots of his favorite vanilla pudding and push him less for the next few days. okay, let’s snuggle!

  1. We’re having slow snuggly days too – lots of congestion – lots of coughing – not much sleeping.
Trying to make the most of it but I know what you mean – sometimes it’s hard to switch gears and be so tied to home.
Hope David is feeling better soon!

  2. so sorry to hear that david is sick again. hope he is better soon. i hate to hear about kids being sick and remember how i too used to worry when mine came down with a stuffy nose or cough that it would turn into something ugly. with 4 little ones of my own a simple cold used to keep us housed up for weeks with productivity coming to a stand still. i’ll keep you in my prayers.

  3. David – I so missed you this morning!! You must get better soon because it’s not good to not go to Sunday school! 🙂 See you Sunday!

  4. We do those breathing treatments at our house too. Ours are xopenex and pulimcort. WOW, it is so scary when they can’t breathe!

Good for you, even though you say you are such a planner, you are willing to plan for the unplanned and that makes a healthy mom.

Way to give up the control and give your kids what they need.

  5. Hope David feels better soon. Vanilla pudding sounds like a great idea! Ben is just getting over a very lengthy sinus infection with the help of some antibiotics.
    Enjoy the extra snuggles!

  6. let me guess albuterol and pulmicort? just got done giving my little Owen a treatment. When Owen was 5 months old he was in the hospital w/ RSV. Now at 19 months we still have issues with breathing. Every cold turns into a respitory issue. So I hope little David feels better soon.

  7. Ah , the familiar steriod and albuterol (right?) .. I hate that stuff but Eliot just went through the same thing. A cold is never a cold, it always turns into bronchitis. You have my deepest sympathy. I hope it doesn’t make it hyper and emotional the way it does Eliot.

  8. i hope david feels better soon!!!

our family’s been battling multiple colds for weeks now. i think this is the third sunday we’ve missed church in a row!

enjoy your cuddle time, and i hope you get back to being productive soon. i miss you!
