how is your tuesday going?

mine is going well! very productive, so far. and i’m feeling a lot less hungry here on day number three of the south beach diet. we dropped matty off at school and then david and i busted through a bunch of errands (and a little coffee stop with a friend). i made this ‘live simply’ necklace yesterday with the new open circle component. i hammered the back side to give it a more distressed appearance. i’m considering practical ways to live more simply–and to give to others. I’m thinking about clearing out my wardrobe and donating to a shelter or thrift store. i’m looking for a place to donate jewelry. perhaps a program that helps women dress and prepare for job interviews. what are some practical ways to live simply? check out brianna’s blog (heldt family) for her thoughts, too! off to straighten up the house a bit before i have to get the boys from school.

  1. Love that necklace! I try to live simply by keeping the house neat, trying to do one thing at a time and be present while I am doing it, and taking lots of quiet time. I know it won’t stay this way forever, but living inside my head, I’ll have to find ways to stay calm!

  2. Isn’t it fun to have only one boy to take on errands. A little quality time.

I’m a huge fan of getting rid of stuff. Don’t get rid just to make room for new. Reduce! I always have a goodwill bag going. When it’s full I drop it off. It’s tough to fight consumerism but it’s a worthy goal.

  3. i think the borland thrift store is always open for any lisa hand-me-downs. hee, hee! i love your clothes. 😉

anyway, it’s so refreshing to hear people desiring to live simply and to be content with the abundances we already have. i don’t think i could wear the same dress for a year, though. i, too, have been thinking it’s time to go through our drawers and closets and pull out the clothes we don’t need/wear anymore.
