I’m addicted to sugar…

The first step is admitting it, right? Steve had some bloodwork done and got the results a few days ago. His triglycerides (sp?) were high so his doctor recommended the south beach diet. Being the amazing wife that I am, I’m joining him–kicking and screaming a bit. We spent a chunk of change on groceries last night. We had almost nothing we needed to make the change to better eating. This morning for breakfast I had eggs with canadian bacon and veggies with a little light mozzarella cheese sprinkled on top and earl grey tea. I felt empty (both pysically and emotionally–just kidding!!) so I had some cottage cheese. The point of this diet is to eat good fats and protien and veggies and to limit carbs. They say you can eat as much as you like, so you should never feel hungry. So far I just can’t get that nice full feeling that pure sugar gives you. McDonald’s cinnamon melt, it may be a while before we see each other again. Anyone have any sage advice?!

  1. Eating healthy diet can really be a real challenge! You pave the way, let me know what you learn, and I’m right behind you.

  2. Good for you guys! Definitely blog about the healthy things you’re eating, I always like meal ideas, especially healthier ones!

  3. Go Leonards! Go! Go! You can do it. Change can be difficult but just think–healthier eating and healthier body, how good is that going to feel? I can’t wait to see you and marvel at your progress.

  4. i hate dieting. let’s just say that first. also, i’ve been dieting (ha, ha!) for over a week now, and really i have been a complete failure. sugar and i have a love-hate relationship. mainly, i love it (can’t seem to get over that), and it hates me! first, of course, is the horrible things sugar does to your body–particularly in the area of fat! second, my body really can’t tolerate sugar well (i get sick), and yet i keep eating it.

hmm… maybe i should blog about this too.

way to go on supporting your husband with the south beach diet. i’m seriously impressed (especially since you are not so excited about doing it!). i try to do whole grain wheat products as much as possible. but, mmm, that white flour!!

    and caffiene….. mmmm….

  5. don’t do it! don’t do it! just kidding, this will be so nice that you can do this with steve and not alone. my only suggestion: get rid of all tempting foods. good luck!

  6. Way to go! I’m impressed! A new diet is challenging, but you’ve got a great start by stocking your shelves with all the right things.
I must confess that I’ve been eating very badly lately; a lot of sugar and caffeine. You’ve inspired me to do better.
