make-shift playhouse

Matty and I built a quick * and not very fancy* fort in the backyard yesterday. Basically, I nailed a sheet to the back fence, added a tunnel for the entrance and their pop-up tent for the other side. A soft blanket made the space cozy.

Simple as it was, the kid loved it. Brought all kinds of toys inside to make the space ‘his’ and…
had a friend over for lunch to make the space feel like home. Maybe next time we’ll even make it a little fancier.

  1. awwww! so sweet!

my hubby ordered me one of your swanky necklaces. I LOVE IT. and am sending many admirers your way.

  2. I even enjoyed getting in a playhouse with my son… Sometimes I put the leaves on the table to make it bigger, then put the bed sheet on the top.. and have them sit in the middle of opening table. I use pillows, blankets and flashlights. They had a blast time. I’m sure Matt likes that.

  3. Kids have the BEST imagination and are just as happy with something make-shift and creative as with something quite planned out and fancy!

  4. That is so fun! A friend of mine made a little “condo” for her kids out of refrigerator boxes. They loved it! Simple but fun 🙂

  5. Love the sheets! I helped my three girls build a fort last week to keep them busy so I could get some computer time. It worked great! I used my two King sized sheets and sloped it from the top of the garage cabinets to the ground. It’s huge and covers half our garage/playroom. It’s been up for a week and the girls and their friends are out there again while I type. Forts are the BEST!!!!

  6. This must be the week of forts. I kid you not my daughter & I made a fort in her bedroom just yesterday. It involved a blanket, a tent, a tunnel & a lot of imagination. Too cute = )
