We love the shell shop in Morro Bay. It’s almost like a museum since they have so many fascinating shells and sea animals and everything is labeled–so you know what kind of shell it is and where it originates.
They don’t mind if the kids pick up things and explore the shop. We had so much fun.
Steve took time to show David lots of shells and let him feel the texture. He’s such a good daddy.
The ocean is incredibly fascinating, don’t you think?

I thought places like this only existed in my dreams!
I love that shop. I’ve remember going there over 40 years ago and it still seems the same.
Fun! We’ll have to go there when we come to Cambria this summer. Katrina would love that place!
Oh wow. What a wonderful place!
One of my favorite shops ever. I’ve collected shells since I was a kid, and many have come from the Shell Shop. Once I was visiting with one of my sons, and a photographer from Sunset Magazine was there. He ended up in the September 2006 issue with a huge set of shark jaws.
omgosh! this makes me want to run to the beach now! i love seashells!!! looks like an awesome time too

Ooh, definitely going to visit when we stay in Morro Bay for a week this August. Isn’t this on Hwy. 1? Pretty sure I’ve seen the signage before.
Actually, it’s on the Embarcadero (road runs along the waterfront) with many other shops. Well worth a visit!
Yes, the ocean is a treasure that should be treated with care! Nice that they let the kids touch them.
OH wow! I had totally forgotten about this place. We used to always go to the ‘coast’. This was one of my favorite stops. Thank you for reminding me of those memories! (I always wanted one of those puffer fishes).
My first visit was about 50 years ago and there have been many others since! It doesn’t seemed to have changed at all. Since we now live nearby, I stop in often and never leave empty handed!
