i am falling in love with this book…

stillmeadow and sugarbridge.

i bought it because the cover was lovely

and it was filled with vintage illustrations.

in this case, it was a good idea to judge the book by the cover!

i feel as if i am with her, she describes the moment so perfectly.

and i love the last line…

i held the moment in my hand.

beautiful.

moments i’ve held lately-

cuddling with matthias on my lap for a good hour. he’s sick, so he wants to be held.

teasing david and tickling him to the point where he belly laughed this morning.

giving steve a really good kiss upon returning home yesterday.

watching david’s whole face light up when he saw auntie chrissie-then wrap his arms around her neck.

a few hilarious moments at blissdom where we laughed so hard i had to spit out my drink.

a nap on the couch in a quiet house with the sun streaming in.

what moments have you held lately?

and i’m loving the fly free necklace lately! use code flyfree10 for $10 off until wednesday at midnight!

  1. Wow Lisa,
I love your wonderful, gorgeous and inspiring blog!
And Gladys Taber is just the BEST! Her books about simple country living are truly the most inspring and magical there are! I discovered her work in 1992 and was sad to learn she had passed away in 1980. There is a wonderful group called “Friends of Gladys Taber” that publishes a quarterly newsletter and has a website as well. It was through one of their annual get togethers that I was able to visit and tour both inside and out, Stillmeadow and her cabin in Cape Cod! Her books have profoundly influenced the way I strive to live my life.

  2. holding moments in my hand… lisa, i’m holding moments of grace in my hand. really. it’s been a tough three weeks both spiritually and physically. at times simple things have become impossible to do, but God says to me “give it grace.” and completely out of character for me, I DO! i hold grace in my hand.

  3. I’m holding special moments with
my soon-to-be 8yo son who has grown up so fast
my oldest baby girl who is having her own baby in about 17 weeks
my middle son who is studying so hard to learn all he needs to know for the field he has chosen
my husband who loves me in spite of me
soon – God stories from my parents who are returning from the Philippines tomorrow

    I love this post.

  4. I really love your fly free necklace and with this nice “10.00 off code” I would like to finally order one.
Are you shipping internationally (I’m in Holland!)? And… I’m allergic to about every metal worn directly on my skin, could I order just the pearl and 2 tags without the chain?

  5. I held the moment in my hand.
    I watched in awe
as it unfolded, like a vapour,
    before my bleary eyes
    And savoured the taste
    of its glistening pulp
on the tip of my tongue.

  6. Thank you for the book inspiration. I’ve been to Amazon and purchased a used book and can’t wait until it gets here. Praying that you’ll get your 3 guys all well in a day or two. They missed you.

  7. I absolutely love the fly free necklace! 🙂 I tried to order it with the code but it seems to not be working.

  8. Hi Lisa! I hope David feels better soon. Moments I’m holding this month of love….

    – my husband, a lot! 28 days of nonstop loving, snuggling, paying attention to eachother
    – my 7 month old asleep on my chest
    – my 3 year old’s smiles and laughter
    – my time in the kitchen cooking good food, the smells and flavors
    – the quiet moments, nature, sunrays
    – I love these moments, mostly this month we are slowing down and it has made us even more productive in the process

Hugs and joy over to you from Tahoe to SoCal!!

  9. Again, thank you for sharing, Lisa. My moments are every where such as yours. This morning, I held my 5 year old before getting her ready for school. Stopping, breathing, snuggling … my moment was when Ainsley leaned into me, stopping her constant motion long enough to just be close to her mommy. This moment I will hold in my hands all day 🙂

  10. My moment…last night helping my 6 and 8 yr. old girls make homemade Valentines. That sweetness was special and this is such a great age….

  11. Ah, moments that have held me. I’ve been without my truck for a week, and have been housebound. We’ve had 34.5″ of snow dumped on us, and now an additional 25.5″ by the end of today.
My dear sweet husband who went and got us groceries yesterday since he refused to let me drive in this insane weather.
My moment is definitely appreciation. Appreciation for what I have, a warm house and a caring husband (whose car is still running.) 🙂

  12. Lisa, I love your thoughts so much! Your blog is a gem. Moments I am holding right now: taking my children to the park on Sunday, enjoying wintry weather in Southern California, going for my walk yesterday and meeting up with my daughter who was walking home from a school activity. We stopped and talked for some minutes–it’s wonderful to be friends with your teen daughter.

  13. I am so glad to see you talking about Gladys Tabor….such wisdom and lovely writing should never be forgotten…

  14. Lisa. . . heard you speak at Blissdom, never got to introduce myself, so I wanted to stop by and say hi. Your jewelry is beautiful and so are your two boys.

  15. I love it Lisa. Thank you for sharing. I need to remember everyday to find those moments that I can hold in my hand. I’m so glad I got to see you and Chrissie at Blissdom. I have missed you guys. Glad you made it home safely. Love to you and your family.

  16. so beautiful. love your style. enjoy your blog so much.
moments i held over this past weekend ~ spending a Sat afternoon rummaging through old memoirs with my now college-age boys. laughing together, reminiscing, just enjoying each others company, lunch with a dear friend, a spur of the moment date with my husband, receiving a phone call from my daughter who lives 2 hours away just because…
thank you Lisa once again for your inspiration.

  17. There is another book series called Still Meadow by a country author Gladys Taber. At first I thought you were referring to her books but this is another I will need to check out.

As a Grandmother I am really mindful of holding moments. I know too well the bittersweet passing of children being at home on a daily basis…I treasure each moment I get now with my Granddaughters…and I really thought I did before but life often got in the way when my children were younger.

    Beautiful post.

  18. hi lisa…

what a beautiful book. i have to run and get it. i am checking with my local library if not just go and purchase. its words are magical and serene.

it is a blessing of the countless moments of love you’ve had.

mines today are singing happy birthday to my hubby over the phone today, prior to that finding the perfect bday card and gift. hospitable breakfast in the chaotic Denny’s dining room for free breakfast. being out in the rain (even though my feet and toes were wet and cold from it), slice of bday cake, looking out my window and seeing snow covered mountains and reading your lovely blog and viewing its lovely images and creations.

thanks so much for the inspiration.

    {{{warm hugs}}}

  19. I will have to check out that book, it sounds lovely. I hope your son feels better soon! I have that necklace and I love it! I won a giveaway on Traci’s blog- beneath my heart. My birthday is on Thursday and I am hoping to get enough bday money to get a mommy necklace with my little girls name. :0)

  20. You are darling – simply darling! Love your post today!
You have me thinking and thinking about how I manage stress — and I am not coming up with anything good that I do! I need to work on something postive that helps me.

Glad you are back safe from Blissdom – sorry your boys are sick – looking forward to more fun stuff from you as always and my newest order from you – can’t wait!!
