My husband and I got married this past July! I had cakes on each table for decoration -most cakes where different flavors and severed 18 people with only 8 guest at each table, guest could find a flavor they liked at the tables around them. Also we moved the cakes to the buffet table and had to go boxes for guest to take some home. Friends still talk about how fun the cakes where.
However what I did to have a really special-memory was to use my parents cake cutter, my grandparents champaign glasses. Another family tradition is to share your perfume has the something borrowed. Still to this day when I wear my sister-in-laws perfume it takes my husband back to our wedding day-he smiles and looks at me like he did on our wedding day!!!
Cannot wait to see next week’s post!

I love the tradition of not seeing the groom before the wedding ceremony. I am not superstitious but i want to see that look on his face when i walk down the isle to become his wife.

I married my soul mate after spending a week and one day with him. We have been married for almost 19 years and I am incandescently in love with him. We have been blessed with three fantastic boys and life is oh so….good! We had a small intimate wedding and I loved every minute of it.

Yay, wedding week. The father daughter dance is my favorite part. I danced with my daddy to Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman.
My husband and I are celebrating our 3 yr mark March 8th! : ) I know the email address need to be changed, but it takes me back to the days of planning , ordering and drama with the cake. I guess all those little things don’t matter after it’s all said and done……AND everyone, still to this day, says we had a great wedding at Caprock Winery. It was sooo romantic. Cant wait for next weeks blogs.

Oh I can’t wait Lisa!! I’m excited to see what you have to share for wedding week! I’m getting married in September, and the tradition{s} I think are most special and look forward to doing is, not seeing the groom until I walk down the isle, my dad walking me down the isle, first dances, boquet toss, and of course something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue!

  9. Janene says:

I’m getting married in October, and we are doing a stone ceremony to symbolize how we’ve both been shaped by those around us, just like rocks are shaped by wind and water. Each person will take a stone on the way into the ceremony, and there will be a moment of silence as they put their blessing for us into the rocks. Then, we’ll collect them and have all of our loved ones’ blessings to keep in our new home together! I’m so excited!! <3

I don’t think I could pick just one thing :)

  11. I’m already married, but a hopeless romantic at heart. I love all things wedding and love and romance. Can’t wait for next week!

  12. So simple and pretty.

One of my friend will get married sometime this year.

one thing we did different at our wedding was have our moms present the rings instead of the best man. it was special to me…and to them as well!

  14. Cassie C says:

I am oober excited! I’m not wedding planning but I am supposed to be wedding planning…Saying yes when he popped the question was easy – deciding where, when, and all that jazz is difficult! Hopefully wedding week will help…

But, I agree with Kels – not seeing the groom before the ceremony. I can’t wait to see the look on Pete’s face when the doors open and I walk down the aisle <3

    Can't wait for wedding week!

  15. Carolyn says:

I love that my mom and dad walked me down the aisle on my wedding day 29 years ago!!

  16. Mae says:

My favorite tradition is an Irish blessing.
My Greatgrandfather and wife huddled into a small group with me and my hubby, saying the sweetest Irish blessing.( I only wish I had got him to right it down for me) :) Mae

  17. Alima says:

I love the image of those silver hearts spilling from the glass jar – beautiful!

I love the tradition of the father of the Bride walking his daighter down the aisle. One of my favorite memories of my wedding was waiting with my Dad in the back before we walked out. No one could see us, but we were watching as all the bridesmaids walked in and the mothers were seated and we were just laughing and oohing and ahhing at how perfect everything looked. It was a moment I’ll remember forever.

  18. Susan says:

I love all the little traditions- first dance, something old, etc..,feeding each other cake, father walking the bride down the aisle,…

  19. Claudine says:

A tradition that my mom did for me and my two sisters is that for each button on the back of our wedding dresses she had written something that she recalled from our childhood and growing up.

Then when it was time to dress, Mom, gathered around by the women in the bridal party (and Dad too!), read a memory and then buttoned a button. The first button was her holding us on the day we were born, the last button was her again holding us on our wedding day as she had finished buttoning our dress. Amazing! So special and, needless to say, never a dry eye in the room!

Traditions and rituals at weddings are such an important part of the celebration!! What fun to have a weddings week!

  20. Anni says:

Without a doubt, I am most looking forward to our vows. We’re writing them ourselves, and not sharing them beforehand. I can’t wait to make that commitment in front of our friends and family.

  21. Ohh yay! I’m actually in a wedding on the 19th…I can’t wait to see….

  22. Anne says:

After my wedding a good friend of the family took some of the flowers from my bouquet and a snippet of ribbon from the bow. She dried the flowers; and then made a potpourri mix with them. She put them in a liitle jar and tied a piece of the ribbon from my bouquet around the top. 29 years later I still have it on my dresser.
When my sister Jenifer got married, she wore my mother’s dress. A good friend took some of the seed pearls from the dress and made each of us & my mother a pin or a pair of earrings incorporating the pearls from the dress. I don’t wear them often..but I love having them.

  23. Philippa says:

Hi Lisa, I think for me it has to be ”the vows”, for whether they are traditional ones or simple ones from the bride and groom’s hearts.. it is just such a special moment when they vow to be together for the rest of their lives. Gives me goosebumps when I think about it! xxx

  24. Julie M. says:

I love the moment that the groom sees the bride for the first time. It is so sweet, hopeful and full of love.

  25. not certain if this is actually a tradition (yet!) but hubby and i didn’t use a traditional guest book. we had a polaroid camera and each guest had a snapshot taken. the photo was inserted into an album and they wrote us a note under the photo. i still love going through that book and seeing the smiles on that day!

    looking forward to wedding week!

  26. Vicky McAdams says:

When the father gives away the bride. Sweet moment! Gives total trust to the groom to take care of his daughter.

  27. Melissa says:

I can’t wait to see all your new items!!

  28. Dasha says:

My BFF is getting married in June, i am in charge of decorations, invitations, jewelry… Oh that would be so sweet to find some inspiration and maybe to win a gift for my bff. :)

  29. Oh, how exciting! I’m rather in the midst of planning right now…our wedding is October 8th, 2011! I’m working within a very small budget, so I plan on incorporating a lot of DIY, handmade details, etc. Looking forward to the inspiration of {wedding week}!

  30. Sheryl says:
